I just saw this. Great idea Mike. Sorry it didn't pick up steam prior to launch. I think it's a great way to get customers but I can't believe no one applied.

I am submitting mine even though it's late.

I think the problem is most domainers don't think linear about what they are going after - they simply try to grab good names. I am lucky in having 1 or 2 niches that fit the contest but I can see how it might be difficult for some.

Well, I'm not much of a domainer. :P

A good percentage of my domains are Norse mythology related, but only a couple are .com domains. Some are .net and .info.
