Just got an email from Network Solutions that they have registered the .xyz version of my .com domain in my name without even asking! Unbelievable. I don't want it, even if the first year is free. How can they do that without asking first?

This registrar just gets worse and worse by the day.

Kinda smacks of the .info giveaway a number of years ago, a temporary scheme to drive up the registration count. It drove up the number of registrations of course, but .info is still another worthless TLD, much like .xyz.

This is a good sign. This means the extension is under-performing to the extent that the administrator feels the need to give away the product. I hope they lose their shirts.
