Hi guys!

Found this forum while searching for some kinda information about how much would my domain name formula1.tube be worth? It's a Premium domain, and it has a lot of potential in Google search volume and if the site would be well done with the correct content type it could have a lot of potential as a website.

I think there's some value with the domain, but anyone has any opinions of the value and how to possibly sell it...?

Thank you in advance!

You are asking for trouble with that domain name.
I suggest you grace delete it.

Don’t register domains with trademarks.
Read the beginners area. Read a lot before spending more money.

A fan site with F1 video materials in it? Are you F1 fan? I have been for 20 years or so and I know what the site would be about. From formula1.com:

However certain trade marks can be used editorially and by fans.

“Fans” in this context mean individuals, groups or collectives including for example not for profit institutions such as fan clubs. For the purposes of these guidelines Fans will be those who follow FORMULA 1 events and are active in supporting the races but without doing so in a materially commercial manner, subject to our discretion. A materially commercial manner may include using the FORMULA 1 Rights:

- for clickbait purposes to promote commercial offers, promotions or activities either related or unrelated to the FORMULA 1 events;

- to build traffic and/or following to a website and/or social profiles in order to sell goods or services rather than genuinely provide a service for fellow fans;

- for advertising and/or promotional purposes that is excessively repetitive or otherwise intrusive, such as targeted ads directed at a select user base.

These guidelines (which may be updated from time to time) are provided to help you use our trade marks and related intellectual property rights properly and in a clear and consistent way for this purpose.

So you're still telling me to get rid of the domain?

"without doing so in a materially commercial manner, subject to our discretion."

This severely limits the value of your name, a fan site that has massive restrictions on how to make it's owner money and that will be closely monitored by F1......

If someone wants to set up a fan site, why would they buy this when they could find a name that is not going to attract as much attention from F1 and could monetize it much more easily?

If that is the case why are you asking what the domain is worth?

No one is likely going to pay a premium for this domain because of the TM issue and it is also not a great domain anyway.

Because true fans don't be fans of F1 because of money. And if the fanbase would want a neat domain name for their fan site what's the problem? I'm F1 fan, the domain would be for a fanbase, and my attention is not to get rich out of the domain lol.

Last post on this....

You asked for advice, people have given it freely. Do not ask for advice when you are clearly only looking for justification.

The name is not great, it has TM issues and the extension is very poor.

Get your money back and learn from it

I asked for the esimated value of the domain and no one gave me a number. My money back would be 2 years of registration fees for it so it makes 25$? So what do you mean by that?

I would say $0. I can't see anyone ever buying this domain because of both TM issues and a sucky extension that has virtually zero interest.

Glad you gave me the answer finally. So I made a loss of around 25$, I'll ask if Formula1.com wants it as a donation. Thanks for your very kind help.

Welcome to NP

$0 for this one

Trademarked name and terrible extension

I'll ask if Formula1.com wants it as a donation. Thanks for your very kind help.

Worst thing you can do is try sell a trademarked domain to the TM holder, that is giving them ammunition and a reason to go after you. Just delete the name and take it as a lesson learnt. Read through this forum for a few months and learn about what makes a name valuable before buying any names.

Check out namebio.com and DNJournal to see a list of weekly sales

Good luck

Hi!

Ok, thanks for all this information. When I regged the domain year ago I had an idea to set up F1 video fan site but it's too much of time for my current situation, so I thought the domain would be good if someone wants to buy it. When registering the domain my attention was not to register it to sell it.

And I was talking about donating the domain for Formula 1 Ltd not selling it, I think they won't lawsuit me for such an action?

Thanks all anyways and have a great new week all!

Its better off to just drop the name. Formula 1 wont want a .tube name, if they did, they would have registered it by now.
