If you look at Adsense approval guidelines online, it doesn't seems like the domain name has much to do with it. Sure, it'll probably get denied if the domain has outright vulgarity in it, but, other than that, I don't think they really care if the domain is quality or not.

No one is going to buy a domain just because it's old.
