Thanks! Great Find GP. I've already posted there. All the big time .com geo holders post here and the founder of the site recently posted a great piece about the potential value of geo .TV names. The fact that talk is starting to happen on blogs like this that are now openly starting to acknowledge the .TV extension is a big deal IMO and only the beginning.

What I found interesng is that they consider any name with a specific location in it, a geo name.
Example
Honoluluhousing.com and mauiconnection.com are considered a geo...

Hey guys,

This is Steve the blogger of www.SimplyGeo.com. Alot of the top geo domain owners of the world are visiting the blog daily, although most do not post. It is relatively a new blog that started in the begining of December and has grown rapidly in such a short amount of time. I look forward to having you visit and comment on the subjects presented, good or bad.

Here is the link to the .tv, as requested. http://simplygeo.com/2007/12/17/tv-buzz-again-on-the-web/

Additionally, I have included another link to Understanding the Geo Niche here
http://simplygeo.com/2007/12/20/understanding-the-geo-niche/

The site is not neccessarily focused on just dot com Geo Domains. If you read thru the site, you see what it is all about. Big plans are in the works as it is the first blog to cover the geo domain niche in detail.

My goal is to provide an atmosphere for those who own geo domains to interact with like minded professionals and grow their business and this domain niche. Make sure to read the blog daily please! :)

Godspeed,
Steve Morales

Thank you for the kind words. Please spread the word about the blog and daily readership.

The great thing about the simplygeo.com blog is geo owners can submit content to post on the blog. The goal is to make it a user-content generated blog that will educate readers on different subjects, as well as domain extentions. What it is not, is a place to hype up one extention and demote another or brag about your conquests. Simply an educational platform to help people think outside of the box and find meaningful data for development of their geo domain names into business models.

If you are interested in submitting an article, you can private message me here or send an email to info (@) simplygeo(dot)com

Thank you for visiting the SimplyGeo.com blog!

Thanks George in great finding

Looking forward to read this blog when I get off work and around a laptop

I don't have many geo names but there smaller niche names that are mainly in Michigan. The high profile owners like SKG and others would love this by the sounds of things.

Shoot. Why didn't I up my max price on silicon valley.mobi lol. I backed out at 1200.

The geo area is an interesting field and interest for me. Maybe I will drop on a .tv geo name and pay those silly renew loan shark rates. We shall see.

Thanks in posting and the owner coming on here. Good luck and sounds like you have a winner.

Cheers

J

This thread has done very well and word of mouth advertising has been outstanding. Thank you! I will continue to educate others on this niche thru the blog and future forum postings.

I have posted a few topics on the discussion board over the past week. Seems alot of people do not really know what geo domains are. Scan thru and take a look if you have some time.

I wish you all a Happy New Year! Stay safe and thank you for the reading simplygeo.com blog. :)

So I posted on simplygeo.com and was very happy to receive a positive response from none other then David Costello one of the biggest generic geo .com owners in the world with names like Nashville.com, PalmSprings.com Acapulco.com LongBeach.com Tijuana.com and many other geo and huge generic non geo .com names.

The reason for this post here is because to me this is a very positive thing he wrote backing up what I was doing. In my thread I mentioned PalmSprings.tv as one of my cities and this guy could have easily either not said anything or chose to discredit what I was doing with PalmSprings.tv but instead he backed up the validity of it. This is the first direct case of a guy at this level, a major successful owner of geo.com's publicly backing the validity of the GEO .TV space that I know of.

Here is my post:

Geo domains and .TV are the perfect mix to be the cityโ€™s โ€œOnline Broadcast Affiliateโ€ in a similar manner to the traditional model of city broadcast affiliates in which each city has an ABC CBS FOX โ€ฆstation. The generic .TV city name is already being positioned and accepted by major media companies as the cityโ€™s broadcast affiliate for the Internet and many hard line .commers have fallen asleep at the wheel IMO in not hedging by getting control on their generic city names in the .TV extension.
I am a bit confused by your question in that owning a .TV does not mean you need use you the channelme.tv format.
Many have launched there .TV city sites with there own technology.
I am in the process of launching a major Geo .TV network and have gotten great early feedback from many major media companies. Currently our next generation platform is being built and contacts in communities are being established.
To see the power of geo .tv check out
www.boston.tv
www.tulsa.tv
www.atlanticcity.tv
www.montreal.tv
www.hamptonroads.tv
HamptonRhodes.tv is a great example of a major media company (Landmark Communications) owning both the .com and .TV and choosing to use both for certain types of content. This is a billion dollar media company saying โ€œThe .com is not enough for our business model. We need to utilize the .TV as well.โ€ They own โ€œThe Weather Channelโ€ and CBS station affiliates in Nashville and Vegas. Landmark owns many other city .TV names including Baltimore.TV Syracuse.tv Atlanta.tv and Seattle.tv to name a few. This company has the power and money to make geo .tv forefront in peoples minds.
Also for direct examples of Network News Stations owning and operating geo .TV sites look at
www.macon.tv
www.nebraska.tv
This space is ripe to explode. Yes I may have a biased view in that my business model is built upon geo .tv names but I have already receieved numerous offers and interest in the real estate and seen the above mentioned development and have the contacts in the entertainment industry to know I am on the right track.
Make no mistake, I am not saying that geo .com space will not continue to explode as well, but the truth is geo .TV is on the rise and will fill a very successful niche. Aside from the obvious geo .com there is no other extension I would rather own a pure generic city name then in .TV and time will prove me right.
Also of note, Many of my big city names have no premium fee despite the popular myth that all good .TV names are premium.
To name a few:
The following list are some of the city names i own that cost me $25 per year to own
SaltLakeCity.tv
KeyWest.tv
Daytona.tv
DaytonaBeach.tv
CorpusChristi.tv
FortWorth.tv
FtWorth.tv
Some of my $500 per year names include (a steal IMO)
PalmSprings.tv
Pasadena.tv
Irvine.tv
SantaMonica.tv
Feel free to contact me at [email protected] to discuss the geo .tv space as I have a vast amount of knowledge of things going on behind the scenes and I keep in constant contact with all the big generic .TV city holders.

Here is what David Costello co-founder of www.ccin.com responded to my comment on simplygeo.com:

Michael Castello on 30 Dec 2007 at 20:53 pm
I like what Brian is doing. It looks good. I have nothing against .tv and spoke at the Associated Cities Expo that .tv was one of the extensions that have potential. It carries a certain expectation for the visitor and Brian seems to be touching on that appeal. What will make .tv become social is if more .tv owners deliver this expectation and at what point the public understands and accepts it. I have been pushing for .com owners to develop for 12 years and I still feel there is a huge learning curve to overcome.
.tv, .mobi or any other TLD has an even higher hurdle to task. We will reach our highest potential when the public uses their URL as their first choice in finding something. Intuitive navigation is the name of the game and the public gets to decide.

Brian,

It was Michael Castello, not David that responded. Additionally, as I stated earlier, SimplyGeo.com is not a place to discredit any one extention or promote another. This is the upfront truth as you have seen.

If my readers like what you are doing with your geo domains, they will say so on the blog. But please be cautious in how you state my readers endorsing something. Compliments are great, and it excites an individual, but please let people make their own assessment on replys to postings from my readers.

This will ensure the big players and Geopreneurs continue to post and give advice to all visitors to the blog.

Thanks in advance for your support and for visiting the blog! :)

Thanks for the correction Steve. Yes I mistakenly added David Costello's name when in fact Michael Costello was the poster. As far as the rest of your post I agree 100%, and that is why I provided the full body of Michael's post as well as my post so people can put his words into whatever context they would like based on the post I wrote which he responded to. I hope you see why I feel his words are news worthy on this forum and that was the reason for putting it here.

As far as the KeyWest.tv thing, I have not seen any posts that say it was for sale and would love for you to show me this post. I purchased this name in the aftermarket back in April and it is not for sale.

Have a Happy and Healthy New Year Everyone and be safe tonight!
