Can I get an appraisal on this domain name?
I plan to develop it into a live football scores site, but does it hold any value as it is, undeveloped?

Domain again is footballmatches.net

Cheers

I think it holds some value undeveloped, but you should definitely develop it to bring the value to its full potential.

As an undeveloped domain, its keywords have generally low search volume numbers according to Overture and WordTracker. However, there is a really good number of Google results for 'football matches'. The name sounds nice, but the .net isn't quite as good as the .com, as is the case with the majority of domain names.

If this were my domain and had to develop it, I would try to make a video site for American football, as the majority of .net names are probably based in North America where UK football is known as soccer.

Anyways, for a base value of this domain, I'd probably estimate it to be around the Mid XX level, but developed it will be worth quite a bit more.

The .net is THE absolutely perfect extension as it's what the ball goes into every time a goal is scored.

Too soccer, or true real football is played globally and is watched by hundreds of millions of viewers worldwide.

To use this name for American football, would be a crying shame and would devalue the name immediately.

Never thought of that-- clever.

And it would really depend on where he lives and what sport he likes better for how he develops it. An American football site definitely wouldn't devalue the name (well, perhaps for the British, but not for NA), but if you like football (soccer) better than that's what you should go with :)

American football is about touchdown, real football on the other hand (instead of a load of fairies padded up to the hilt lol) is about getting the ball in the back of the net.

With .net on the back of the name, it fits absolutely perfectly.

I would happily pay $30k for this name, to develop it into a site.

Btw Rugby rules.

One Brit. :)

Thanks for all the appraisals, I was thinking of letting it go as I have other projects going on, but think after what i've heard from you guys will keep it and develop it, maybe into a football video site or into a site that sells football tickets, if thats possible.

BTW, i'm into 'soccer' rather than american football ;)

Thanks again :)

That's surely possible. :)
Join their affiliate program.

You can create a football video site, with some nice compilations of great action moments in the game, etc and sell tickets and also all other associated merchandise you can think off.

Merchandise of specific players/teams, shirts, etc

It's a great name and it shows there are still quite some gems left in the .net extension seeing your recent pick up date ;)

I have to admit that this wasn't newly regged, I brought it off someone on here for $20 a month or so ago, and am quite glad I did :)

It's a nice buy for sure.

Oh, and YouTube can be one of your most powerful link bait and marketing tool for FootballMatches.net :hehe:

You could create a Wordpress or Firefox plugin along with your site.

I think you should go with soccer-to an American, a football "match" sounds kind of like a football date :)

No, it's a football match, the OP has it absolutely spot on. Nothing to do with the americanised spelling, it's not soccer, it's football. If you watch BBC Grandstand, the most natural thing to say to your mates down the pub afterwards on a Saturday night would be, 'Did you watch the Football Matches today?'

This name is the bees knees. Best name I've seen in this section for weeks on end. All the other names pale into insignificance beside this domain name. The gentleman that owns it has done absolutely fantastic acquiring this domain. It's worth a hell of a lot more than any of the appraisals given above, at the very least 15,000 pounds and I'd stake my life on that. There's not a shadow, an inkling of doubt about that.

Conversion 15k = just over $30,000 minimum. I could very easily broker this name.

Agreed stay away from american football, they are called games here, so all the traffic would be for european football.
