Hi all,
I've joined this forum 11 months ago and that is when I started with domaining.
At the start, I had a lot of dumb questions ( well, all of us have dumb questions when we start new things :-P ) but after reading a lot of guides I felt ready to start investing.

I did a lot of dumb purchases, I hand regged CroatiaEscorts.com!! LOL. I bought 012n.com for like $100 on Godaddy auctions and those are the best ones, I did three more handregs that I'm too embarrassed to even share here. ( Mind you at the time I did those purchases I thought I hit the jackpot )

While doing those handregs I kept reading and looking at past sales. the 2 threads that helped me the most were Your Purchase of the day ( not handregs ) and the Reported completed domains sales.

I've started investing in domains I thought will have a good chance of being sold, with the first one being FindAdvisors/com that I purchased on Godaddy auctions for $255 and sold within 6 months for $2795 ( If I remember correctly ) on BB.
Also when I started receiving offers for domains I was afraid to negotiate so I just accepted the initial offers, now I have like 5-10 offers I rejected!
And then I did another sale with a $200 profit, and then another one. and then I did a private acquisition of HowToBuyCrypto/com for like $130 and sold for $900 not so long after, which gave me the idea to hand reg all of the available Bitcoin/Crypto related terms with over 500 searches a month and do outbound, which was a great success.

So far my DAN's dashboard shows $2,959 in sales, and all of the domains that were sold cost me $530.

I also sold a domain on Afternic 4 days ago for $988 that I've purchased for $12 on Godaddy Auctions ( waiting for the money to hit my PayPal and then I'll report the sale )

I currently have around 100 domains, which 20 of them are .CO I purchased for $.99 each and another 10-15 are handreggs. and 1/3 of the domains I have are listed on BB + SH.

I'm having fun and making money at the same time, is there anything better than that?

Hoping to have more sales soon! and I invite you to share your first X of domaining experience, too!

Thanks!

Passion is the main thing from the onset, no matter what...I am still reading...since March. So many "right ways to go about this...and so much advice from "seller site" people...What's a newbie to do ....

That said, sometimes a long-term HOLD gains more profit in the long run... (y)

That could be very true. However, as long as you can replace supply or increase supply after a sale, the odds are going in your favor. Before the sale, you had a single domain that could of resulted in a big sale. But now you have say, three.

But yes, you don't want to sell the peach.

*have :xf.wink:

Methinks that many peaches have been sold (or dropped) before they were ripe... aye, there's the rub. (y)

Congratulations for this great start, and always remember this is a journey not a destination ;)

Fairly new to this industry myself, also bought a couple of domains I am not proud of. Hoping to be as profitable as you in a year.

Impressed with your willingness to recognize your initial poor name purchases and, to then seek out and purchase and sell for profit better quality names just months later.

A great first year in domains!

Since almost all domain names worth anything have already been registered, the best sale is a good buy. (y)

Well done! That goes for your success and this thread. Additionally, I'm cracking up over the deal that was done in here :xf.laugh: Looks like CroatiaEscorts.com wasn't a total loss after all!
