I've managed to come across a first name and surname that's not been registered. Would this hold value and do you think I should snap it up?

Yeah, people names are a very good investment. Obviously it depends on how popular it is, if its getting a good amount of searches on Google, facebook, linkedin etc.

Since its not been registered its probably not that great but I don't know the name so I can't say for sure.

I've just looked on estibot and exact matches are only 207 a month. I think I'll forget I seen it.

Thank you for your help, much appreciated.

making decisions based on bot results, is the initial fallacy in your premise

    and....

unless the first/last name is yours, then what value does it hold for you?

    imo....

I'm aware that bots are not the most accurate things in the world. But at the same time I thought the search results were there or thereabouts! I hold my hands up as I am still in the very early stages of domains and hold a small portfolio. It's actually a family members name, but I'd be simply buying it to resell.

Long story short, if is not registered, buy it now! Targeting end-users by name converts like hell no matter if you sell domains, t-shirts or mugs ;) and you can reach them on pretty much any platform.

That's really good. Did you just have it listed on Sedo or was it pushed to an auction?

Yet any interested party could buy it for $10. So why is this name + surname still available. I think it's best to buy domains that you can use... Don't think there are too many people willing to buy their own name + surname even for regfee.

Just dropped maybe,or maybe its an unusual name that no one is aware is now available..who knows! I would have thought that the majority of people would find owning their own name in dot com desirable, even if only for the fact it allows them to create an email address @theirname.com which is pretty impressive.

And given the fact that most (common) first name surname combinations are registered, that would appear to be the case.

firstlast dot com are usually important for celebs.
General population does not care about them.
Last name or first name separately hold more appeal.

Many of the general population still aren't tech savvy and not far removed from them are another group who use the internet for basic tasks only.

This is changing, and quickly... youngsters at school age now instead of being asked to prepare a poster presentation are being asked to create websites etc.

sure, youngsters choose website based on their full name. Heck, they include their middle name too.

I'm saying each generation is becoming more tech savvy.

With that, a knock on effect is that there is bound to be an increased market for full names.com [I didn't mention middle names, clearly there will be less demand for 3 name .coms], whether for personal sites or simply for the fact that you can setup email @ yourownname. Pretty impressive, and if theres thousands of guys called John Smith in the world, only one can have it. Supply and demand eh...

Middle names?! Maybe in a few hundred years... but if you want to create a separate thread for that topic no one is stopping you...
