hey guys , i need a lit bit of help

i sometime make graphics/logo for people , usually its for my own sites so i use the png but when i am making for others they ask for psd and Ai files usually. Well when i save the files as Ai from fireworks it comes as it is but when i save as Psd and open with Photoshop the affects arent same as it was in Fireworks

how can that be fixed , any plugins or something ?

oh i am using CS4

rasterize the effects before saving as PSD since PS recognizes only a few Fireworks effects. At least it was that way on older versions like PS7 and I'm still on CS2 so don't know if something changed, although I doubt it.

On a side note, everybody seems to have the latest (expensive) software versions and no one knows how to use them, lol. Is like having a Ferrari and not knowing how to drive :D

Go into photoshop and Import the PNF "fireworks" file into photoshop, automatically photoshop will flatten the layers from fireworks (that's how it does it automatically).

and there you go, don't open the file in photoshop "import it". Look through the help section there an extensive guide of fireworks and photoshop.

Save the file as its original extension from fireworks as .png then import to photoshop.

Did you say you use fireworks?

Well like I said before you can importa a PNG "fireworks" file into photoshop but he problem here is you won't be able to edit any layers or any effects since photoshop will flatten the layers automatically but it might still keep some of the effects fireworks uses.

Best thing is to convert it to a photoshop file and give them also the png. Let them know what programs you used when creating your work. Not everyone uses photoshop.

Fireworks can import native Photoshop (PSD) files and retain much of the structure of the PSD file, including layers and editable text. To compare the differences between the two applications, open a file in Photoshop and then import the same file into Fireworks
