Finding out the real WHOIS

Hello everyone and HAPPY 2008 new year....


How do you find out the real WHOIS info when people hide there info on the WHOIS database under fake name, address, etc etc...

John Berryhill looked up some domains for me a couple months ago and was able to tell me but I never asked him how he did it... Any ideas?

One thing you can do is look up past ownership at domaintools.com
It's possible that the current registrant info has been cached before privacy was applied to whois.

I tried Aboutus.org a while back when 1 of the names i was after had the wrong details, Got the right 1's from about.us as it was a website at the time of cache i believe.

May have got lucky but worth a try.

DomainTools is definately worth it if you make your business in domains. So much data they have there. Thanks Jay!

If the whois info is invalid (email doesn't work, telephone number is bad) then you can contact the registrar to file a whois complaint and the whois has to be updated within 14 days or the registrar has to delete the domain. if the domain is using privacy and the issue is not invalid whois then go with the other suggestions.
