IMHO, it's far too simple. If you want your logo to catch people's attention and connect them instantly with your product, you need something that is more than just 2 layers and 2 layer effects in Photoshop.
Here's what I would do if I were you. Play around with making the "MBC" more unique than just a standard font. You are looking to build a brand based on medical billing concepts. You can easily work some medical themes into the logo just slightly. Alternating the colors of the main letters is something you can try too.
When I think of a logo, I think of two things. The first being a logo that is completely in black and white with NO extra effects like colors, patterns, or shadows. Save those for your more detailed version.
For example, the McDonalds logo has many variations. Some have a 3D look, others are just flat yellow lines in the shape of the arches. Either way though it's still recognizeable as the McDonalds logo.
You need something that is simple but can also be decorated and have some effects added for display on websites or business cards.
In a nutshell, I'd say the letters have potential, but you need to be more creative about it.
If you are going to use JUST letters, then you can almost never use a standard font for them. Think of the GMC logo. It's similar to yours, but they have a custom font. That's the difference.
Hope that points you in a good direction.
