Please Appraise my new domain

I acquired the domain a couple minutes ago (literly)
Market: Social media (any picture associated application)
Research: don't know much about appraising domain names.
No value in mind. Yet.
Not owned for enough days to determine if there's traffic.
Age: less than a day

additional information: Facebook paid 8.5million to acquire

obviously, i don't intend to get anywhere close to that but just
thought i'd point it out.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I could buy facebook.com (if i had the money :( lol ) and even if it was a TM Violation i'd still own it.
that's like buying a honda car and saying i'm violating honda's trademark.

New to the game?

Doesn't work that way, my friend. Your domain is a direct infringement on Facebook's TM.

Regardless of the TM issue, it's obvious you bought the domain solely because facebook owns "fb" in multiple extensions, and you're hoping they'll make you an offer. If this is your method to domain name investing, you already have and will continue to fail. Scan through other appraisal threads and you'll see bozos doing the "*****.com sold for $5k, how much is *****.estate worth?" dance. When everyone tells them it's worthless, they get defensive. There are so many domainers on here who are incapable of learning how the business actually works and they're hoping for the day their god awful domains magically become valuable. Don't become one of them.

If you build websites for a living, then I'd develop something non-facebook related on the domain. Wait out the 2 years and hope for some interest. The domain itself isn't impressive enough to attract much without something of substance like a website. Best of luck

@rtist if you ask for an appraisal you should take into consideration that you can receive various advices
sale.pics $5k
share.pics $3K
edit.pics $2900
Don't you think that are good sell.
These are decent sell for decent domain hacks.
But an extension with 9 reported sales, the highest one for 5K, is not an extension I'd like to invest, unless I can find a real premium for a cheap price (i.e. Holiday.pics for 100$).

Facebook had a reason to buy fb.com, why did you bought that domain?
It may be considered a TM violation.

This is not even close to a TM Violation please look up the definition for a TM Violation.
Why? because I could and I can. (was that a serious question?)

This might be of good help to you.

Could you explain to me how it's a violation of facebook?
fb can literally stand for a boat-load of things so could you specifically tell me how this a violates of anyone's trademark.

BTW i'm liking your pic :)

Reg fee until .Pics develops a liquid market for 1L,2L and 3L names. It's all about emd hacks in new gs bro, take some time to research....going with your gut without a set strategy for finding
names is nothing but trouble, trust me I was just like you when I started.

Why wouldn't parking this domain be an option for me? I'm more than willing to "Park" it for as long as I wish even if I have to Pay for the parking.

as far as commercial value goes. Check this out http://domainindex.com/domains/football.pics
but that's an automated evaluation. so here you go:
https://sedo.com/search/?keyword=.pics&language=us&rel=4#

check the # of bids and the prices.
pot.pics would be nice.. care to share what domains you're thinking of? :) I can build a site from scratch on them if you like me too :)

If you park the domain, you cant guarantee facebook related content wont be shown. If it is shown, you'd struggle to keep the domain in a udrp case. Same if you put fb content on it.

Check namebio.com for historic sales of the .pics extension HERE

It's not a bad domain in my opinion, but it would be wise to stay away from the facebook side of things..

I'm still not clear on the angle you are taking with this one. You are going to set up an imgur or tinypic clone to do what.. post football pics?
The angle is selling it.

what are the renewals?
You talking bout the price for renewing the domain? I'm not to sure. It's paid for, for 2 years already.

If the domain is developed as a social network website, Facebook can sue you for creating confusion. Is it worth the time and money to deal with Facebook lawyers?
And to the rest of users who are playing smart, the only reason fb is a popular two letter combination is only because Facebook.
Undeveloped the domain is OK, the way it is developed may cause problems....

You obviously don't know what you're talking about.
I've installed this script on 4 sites last year alone.
I can install the same script on without a problem

As said domain is reg-fee. There are 10 reported .pics sale on NameBio and this is a very weak extension.
Regarding the TM violation probably you're right, since it is not clear, but if for any reason FB decides that they want your domain you'll receive a "cease and desist" letter or something similar. You can even think to win it and maintain the control of the domain if they become more aggressive.
But do you really want to go through that for a domain with basically no value?

Facebook has a history of crying wolf. Looks like they've actually backed-off from making threats as it's creating bad publicity (aswell as a few judges have declined their request). Nevertheless, if they send a cease and desist then there's value in the domain so it would be worth to fight it. Might just get in contact with someone @twitter and sell it to them just to piss fb off lol. (easier said than done) - have them put some porn on the domain lol.. It would be pretty easy to get a news outlet to cover the news especially with a cease and desist letter.

You're a little hot head aren't you? You should listen more to what people are telling you...try to act professional rather then act like a tough guy. Facebook has an entire legal team...do you? They have millions of dollars...do you? Even if you were legally right, they could drag you through so many court actions you would be bankrupt if they wanted to. You want to take that chance over a domain that has little to no value? And Twitter isn't going to buy the domain and put porn on...get with the real world.

It is obvious I don't know what am I talking about especially if this statement is made by a user with 19 posts and joined yesterday.
I am speechless about the way you think.
What does the script have to do with what I said? Facebook is not the only social network. Also that is not the only script that exist....
Glad to know you spent $1.2k last year Of course you can install the script on that domain. <sigh> I give up. Go live in your own bubble, but don't bother us next time.
