Hi,
I am on a linux server, and i tried to install some programs such as typo3 and PHPwcms through fantastico and it installed fine but when i go to the website to access it it has a 500 server error
when i go to the error log it has this error:
Wed Mar 23 17:05:41 2005] [error] [client 83.245.25.100] File does not exist: /home/ridesign/public_html/500.shtml
[Wed Mar 23 17:05:41 2005] [alert] [client 83.245.25.100] /home/ridesign/public_html/wcms/.htaccess: Invalid command 'php_flag', perhaps mis-spelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration

is this due to my host?
I have already had problems with him all year as the server has been done many times and also still phpmyadmin is very slow and sometimes when i try to access a db it has the error :
: Missing parameter: db
: Missing parameter: table

I would be very grateful if someone can tell me is is a host problem?
Should be able to get my money back?

Isn't fantastico suppose to install without bugs and problems?

Thanks

To tell you the truth, some of my users have been complaining about fantastico bugs when it installs but nothing too bad. But about your mysql, if it is slow and you are investing alot into a server which I am sure you am it is time to move over to http://www.servermatrix.com. I am not with them but I have been with hosts that use their datacenters and they are excellent and I have heard alot of good things about them.

is there anyone who can give reliable hosting in that price or do i need to spend more?

thanks

One of my customers complained about this same thing to me yesterday - I thought it had to do w/ a script I helped him install since there were some .htaccess php flags in it

so I told him to open the file manager from within cpanel, open public_html, and edit .htaccess - put # in front of every line (to comment it out) - and I've not heard from him since.. but I do know I'm getting emails that he's installing nuke / phpbb2 using fantastico right now so I'm assuming it worked.

so do i comment out every line?
is it easier to just remove the file?

thanks

I have not used their servers but you learn the hard way that you get what you paid for. I learned the hard way too and the best way to solve it is to pay more and have an excellent host like http://www.hostingzoom.com or http://www.resellerzoom.com. Hostingzoom is better but resellerzoom is cheaper.

fantastico is supposed to install without bugs and problems sure.... however
fantastico often has bugs and problems. In addition the scripts it installs often lag in versions. If you can it is usually better to download and install the programs yourself.

Yeah plus sometimes it installs unnecessary junk it is always best when possible to install it yourself like parrot said.
