Donald Trump made the reference to unsavory coverage synonymous to “fake news,” and this won’t change any time soon.
We will consider and respond to any 6 figure offers.
Regardless of whether this price is attainable, the public lifespan of FakeNews.com began with its registration in 1999, and shall continue as long as Donald Trump is US president...

I wrote this little ditty in memory of Petula Clark's great hit, which was a lot more fun than the current political scene.

Fake News (To the tune of “Downtown”)
by Charles Carreon
12/10/16

Turn on the TV
Hear the things that they’re saying
Well it sounds a lot
Like News!

Pick up the paper
Read the things that are written
Well it surely looks
Like News!

But now the “Prop or Not” List
Has landed in my Twitter
And Huff-po, WaPo, Daily Beast
They all are in a flutter –
What to Believe?
The Rooskies are under the Bed
The Chinese are here to be fed
This is
Fake News!
Let’s see if it’s on the list
Oh dear, Look at it right here,
Fake News!
Straight from the Kremlin, they say!

Power’s corrupting
And media has power
To sell Fake News!
Now who do you think
Might be in a position
To buy Fake News?

I mean the news is spozed to
Give you all the skinny
The straight dope and the lowdown
And the truly on the level.
Good luck with that!
Citizens United took over your head
Now the screaming liberals
Say Conservatives are Red
This is Fake News
Don’t try to sell me this
Fake News
I know this shit’s on the list
Fake News
Just stick this right up your ass.

Truth is expensive,
So they use it quite sparingly in
Fake News
Like the sun’s in the sky
And there’s a base on the moon
You call that Fake News?
Your mind is just a playground
For thoughts of other’s making
Your choices like a baby’s candy
Right there for the taking.

They have to lie, too
The Rooskies are under the Bed
The Chinese are here to be fed
This is
Fake News!
Let’s see if it’s on the list
Oh dear, Look at it right here,
Fake News!
Straight from the Kremlin, they say!

well. . . I would've sold this domain WAY back when it first received super attention in the spring. Now it's sort of losing momentum. . . I would've sold for xx,xxx to xxx, xxx. But yeah would've taken the money and ran. Otherwise I might end up losing the only possible sellable time. Then it won't even go for over x,xxx after fake news isn't a popular thing anymore ~_~

The recognition of this phrase is yuuuuge. It doesn't surprise me whatsoever that it could go for 5 or 6 figures.

developed you could get five to six figures. Although the buyer might make your skin crawl. Soros or Ben sasse et all might pay that just to get some cutting content off the web.
Game of Patrons
I like the spoof news. but there are so many other headlines you are missing. And where is the highly snapchattable cartoon section sent to your phone daily?
Twenty give years ago Graydon Carter was publishing articles in Spy mocking the punch & Judy show at the NYT. Now Vanity Fair is a house organ for Morning Joe.
The must be mocked op end pages. The dusty greed opinion pages.
Why do people so full of their own opinions rely so heavily on promoting the opinions of others to people whose own opinions they ignore?
More spoof news content need please.
I'd bookmark fake news. Develop NOW.

News is supposed to be genuine. People usually look for real news and not fake ones! That's why people dis any source of bad news, but again, I might be missing something.

Well, once Trump tires of his "fake news" fad and moves on to some tardy phrase, the keyphrase will lose search volume, relevancy, and suddenly that domain might be worth 3 figures.

Its coolness depends solely on the cheeto's whims. Idk about u guys, but if I had a domain whose value rested squarely on the fickleness of one person. . . I'd sell it faster than the eclipse that just happened.

Given the existing brand promotion, one would expect it is already worth a lot. That name will probably be promoted often for the next 4 to 8 years, so...

I feel pulled two ways on this one. Yes, 'fake news' is all over social media, the media, day to day conversation these days (even in Canada!). So on that base I can see it worth a lot, as numerous others have suggested.

However, I then asked myself the question I always ask when considering any domain name: 'What kind of company or organization would want to buy it and use it?' Who wants to call themselves FakeNews. The only realistic thing I could think of would be some sort of comedy or parody site. Maybe I am just not creative enough to think of realistic possibilities.

Certainly if I owned this domain name and had a reasonable offer I would take it and run (and after running invest it in other domain names!

Just my (inflating my worth :xf.smile:) two cents worth!

Bob

Most news is fake by default that if you put your eggs in the news basket you have to actively continually find new news etc which is effected trying to find news for news sake

But socialmedia doesn't need traditionalmedia as on socialmedia some bod takes a photo uploads it and the world retweets it and the world comments on it - simple - no need for journos as people have a job watching a YouTube video more than 5 mins long and as $`'s have long gone from traditionalmedia on their merry way to Google and they ain't going back lol

Is it worth 6 figures? Hmmm the fakenews.com domain is on auction with a reserve in the 50-75k range, with a 15K bid.
