It's about time too.

As a top domainer he should be setting an example to others, not trading in TM infringeing domains. Just another example of people getting too big for their boots.

They should have gone the ACPA route and claimed $100,000 for each infringement :imho:

If more followed Facebook's lead we would finally make some inroads to stamping out Cybersquatting alltogether.

GO FACEBOOK :lala:

What I fail to understand is why in the world a domain empire owner would want to engage in such disgraceful activities, where the chance of getting some big money is slim while the risk of ruining the image of a long and honorable career is very high.

I'm still wondering why facebookofsex.com is still an active site. From all their advertising, you'd think they'd have been shut down long ago.

There is no excuse for a big time domainer to be dealing in domains like this. This is the kind of thing that gives a bad reputation to the entire industry.

There was a new member at DNF today with a domain with three TMs in one twitter+facebook+youtube.com.

I agree with the poet. Incomprehensible. Also, I wonder who would ever buy such crap domains.

Anyway big time domainers aren't new to this kind of behaviour. Do you remember the domains about the BP Oil Spill that Rick Schwartz was proud to have handregistered? He used to show them to prove that there are still opportunities in .com handregistrations... Who understands them...

I remember Rick boasting about DON KING being a speaker at a DOMAIN event. Ugh I have no respect for him.

It's a shame. I had to stop telling ppl I was a "domainer" because ppl associate them with @$$holes and scammers. Gee, I wonder why...

If Mike Mann didn't exactly intend to register those domains, it's a shame he didn't scrub off those names on time. He can perhaps consider himself lucky he or his company wasn't sued instead.

Only so many skeletons can be hidden before some fall out. Quite honestly this doesn't surprise me as I have seen lots of the so called figure heads of this industry with there dirty little hands all over Trademark Infringing names. It's really sad and I wish these folks would clean up there act and set a proper example.

It looks like we small/medium sized domainers are the only ones who really care about this industry and struggle to make it become known the right way to the general public. Very disappointing.

He still owns CNN-SUCKS.COM (among others), and that after CNN bought a name from him for 750K... His own way of being grateful :hi:

Oh dear...where to start??

The first thing that amazes me is that anyone doesn't think that some of these "big" players are sitting on more than a few TM names.

The second thing that amazes me is the he was so dumb a$$ stupid for having them listed like that.

Shame he is not going to get his arse handed to him finacially.

As much as I have no time for Mr Schwartz for the most part, you have to give him props (??) for being so arrogant that he is fine (insensitive, unashamed, unapologetic...[insert any applicable word you want]) with putting his hand up and saying yes...I am a scumbag domainer who registers names in bad faith.

There is no excuse for a big time domainer to be dealing in domains like this. This is the kind of thing that gives a bad reputation to the entire industry.

There's no real excuse for any domainer (regardless of size) to own or deal in names like this except for the fact that "ethics" and "domaining" got well and truly separated following their own yellow brick road to OZ for some people with faulty moral compasses.

Reputation? What reputation? Look at what has transpired over the last twelve months in the industry. The reputation of the industry on a whole is on life support and if it keeps going on this way, someone will step in and pull the plug eventually.

I am thankful for the great and concerned members we have on this forum (like yourself Brad and everyone else in this thread) but the general doesn't get to see our perspective on this rubbish and we are all, in some way, tarnished by it.

Only so many skeletons can be hidden before some fall out.

It will be an avalanche one day.

Gotta stop ranting...lol. Will put the soapbox away now. :notme:
