Fabulous PPC Far Superior to Sedo's: A Man's Experience

Just wanted to share this especially with domain newbies. I was with Sedo's PPC (sedo.co.uk) from December 2003 - mid July 2004 and earned a puny 4.63 Euros total during those 8.5 months. I moved over to Fabulous (fabulous.com) and brought along my entire portfolio of domains, and have earned US$13.99 to date from mid-July 2004 (5 weeks).

In my experience, Sedo clicks do not usually earn above 0.08 euros each whereas Fabulous' PPC rates average about US$0.22. I have had on numerous occasions rates above US$0.40 and even US$0.92. More importantly, it appears that I have a lot more click throughs on Fabulous.

Sedo's advantages:
very easy to forward domains to Sedo's PPC eg. through CPanel
very well designed site and extremely user-friendly

Sedo's disadvantages:
very low PPC rates
high commissions on domain sales

Fabulous' advantages:
one of the best and swiftest customer service that I know of
high PPC rates
zero commission on domain sales

Fabulous' disadvantages:
need to use Fabulous' name servers which means that there could be a 24-48hrs disruption between DNS changes

Note: I do not earn PPC's through this appraisal of Fabulous' services but if you must you could send me a donation by clicking here! :tu:

Just an update concerning earnings on Fabulous (97 domains on portfolio):

July 2004 $8.28 2763 views, 542 uniques, 45 clicks
Aug 2004 $15.22 4908 views, 896 uniques, 71 clicks

Most earnings (>90%) come from one or two specific domains. As usual, s.u.p.e.r.b. and amiable customer service from Nathan. We've even exchanged numerous emails discussing parking optimization options, etc. Never seen such excellent online support before, and the site is never down and offers wonderful and highly customisable revenue reports.

I'm not thrilled with sedo and only leave my domains which have zero chance for type in there. They jusat dont pay well at all. But their stats are the most informative over all.

Im pretty happy so far with domain hop, but really am far from impressed with their stats as they do not provide any useful information.

Are you direct it to PPC (ROAR) or affiiliates Pages (Dark Blue)?

from what i've read, the only way to sign up for fabulous's parking is to have at least 100 domains parked with them. is that correct? i'd like to give them a try, but only for about 50 names or so.

To begin with, Fabulous does the redirection on my behalf because that gives me a larger chunk of the commission compared to if I were to redirect the parked domains on my own.

Most of them are to Roar, with a Dark Blue exit popup (which I do not like). 8^X

I got in with 60+ domains, but the domains need to be of value. Or else 100 will get you through the door.

The only other way is to use some custom URLs and redirection scripts. But I did not understand the technical aspects of that, so a nameserver redirection is the only option for me. :guilty:

too bad they require so many domains. I have over 100, but I don't want to move them all, so I'll stay at sedo for now.

Fabulous does significantly increase your earnings, and moving can be as quick and painless as doing a global edit on the nameservers. Only pain is the propagation. Good luck on whatever you choose to do! :talk:

Propogation isn't as much of a problem as it used to be. With new instant DNS, it only takes as long as it takes your ISP to update their DNS. Most good ISPs would be doing this hourly.

I can usually see nameserver changes within 30 mins these days.

And yes, we do do very much prefer that customers use our nameservers when sending PPC traffic. Not only do our nameservers ensure that all traffic to the domain (expired links, subdomains etc) is captured, but it also helps to see the quality of the traffic that we are receiving.

If somebody is reluctant to change their nameservers when parking domains, it often rings alarm bells as it is the easiest method, and they might have an ulterior, sometimes sinister reason that they do not wish to change them.....

We used to have a lot more problems with fraud from customers not using our nameservers, so we made it a requirement for all new customers.

Cheers

Hi suthra, that may be true but I highly value customer service and quick response, which Fabulous dishes out admirably, and AFAIK DH has a substandard website that used to be frequently down plus they also pay out rather sheepishly. Correct me if I am wrong! :snaphappy:

I am also trying the Fabulous parking experiment. Last night I moved 115 names there and it took me about 3 hours to optimize them all. I was pleased that I got a confirmation email and optimization suggestions for those that did not fit any catagory. I woke up this morning and already $1 in revenue on 92 views and 1 click. It is early but looks promising.
