Extending domain name life for a buyer

Recently, I read an article about amortising domain name purchases, and it seems that there may be some tax advantages in purchasing a name with (say) 9 years life over one with only 9 months. Has anyone ever had a buyer ask for a name to be renewed for a few years extra before purchasing? I'd be happy to add extra years for $10 per year for a customer, if it helped him with his tax.

Seems to me like overthinking. In my experience, an end user at least will not care one way or the other. Doing yourself a disservice by spending time and money unnecessarily.

I don't know about that, but I offer to add years all the time to close deals. If a buyer can visualize owning the domain for a decade at low, or no extra cost it can help to make it look that much more appealing.

It seems that tax inspectors in some countries don't understand virtual assets. They seem to be able to understand the purchase of leases, and the length of the lease can affect the category and allowances. I'm not an accountant, so one should take professional advice before acting on this comment of mine. Adding years as a sales incentive seems like a good idea. It increases the perceived value at a fairly low cost.
