Expiring Domains

Anybody noticed any "PENDING DELETE" status being reverted back as "REDEMPTION PERIOD" status..
I thought once it reaches 'Pending Delete' that it is just a matter of time for it to be dropped.
Why then is this possible?
I noticed this with Godaddy as the registrar.

pending delete means pay now it is better to pay it before it does expire as you can lose search results if site goes down and it will when it expires it will then have to be picked up again by the google bot and you will lose rankings.

Rubbish post...

It shouldn't go from pending delete ever to registry redemption.

Should be 28 days of redemption period with the registrar on the expired domain and then off to the registry they send it. It then will sit for around 60 days. Usually around a week before drop date the domain is shifted by the registry to pending-delete status.

What is the domain extension?

You need to look at registry status codes. The whois output from the registrar can be confusing.

You know, many people believe that domains expire at the exact moment that they say. The truth of the matter is that a domain that does not get renewed will actually go through a 75 day process after the expiration date before it is actually available for someone else to pick up.

It could happen when you are using different who is sites and you end up looking at cached data of one of the who is service. Most of the who is sites (not the direct registry) caches the query for some days.

This is correct. Some registrars use the "Pending Delete" code when a name has expired and is in redemption mode. If the REGISTRY Code reads "Pending Delete" it WILL BE DELETED and available in five days...if you are lucky enough to catch it.

That's why you always look at the Registry status ;)

The WHOIS contains a Registry part and then there is the Registrar part.
Registry is always correct.
Registrar part ... Let's say some peeps can be very creative here ;)

I gotta ask, where do you find such a tool? I have tried a few that just do a site search and if your domain doesn't come up then either it hasn't been indexed or it "MAY" be blacklisted. Not an accurate method in my opinion. It would be nice to know if there is such a tool.
