Getting the exact date

Hello. I have a question on securing an expiring domain. I am confused on what the exact date is that the domain will be released.

What is the best way to access this. Is it 75 days to reach pending delete and then 5 more days to equal 80 days after initially expiring.

Or is it 30 days after the redemption period starts plus 5 days?

The domain I am looking at was updated 43 days after the expiration date and is now in redemption period. Does this mean that the domain will reach pending delete in 73 days and not 75 days?

Is there a website that can provide the exact date that it will be released, or do I just look it up under snapnames once it goes to pending to get the exact date and time?

Thanks!

Hi trace504,

It should be 75 days if I don't remember wrongly.

This.
The redemption period starts between D0 and D45 after domain expiry. It depends when the registrar decides to put an end to the grace period. They have up to 45 days to do so.
So it could take 80 days from expiry to release (drop) but around 75 days is pretty common.

This is for gTLDs, for other extensions it varies.

Hello. I have a question on securing an expiring domain.

It doesn't work like that. Domains are auctioned by the registrars about 40 days before they drop.

You need to mention:
1) the domain registrar and
2) the expiry date
if you want more information.

The domain I am looking at was updated 43 days after the expiration date
You are too late. The first auction closes on day 42. Probably somebody already bought it on auction and that's the reason why whois was updated on day 43.
