Pending delete info needed

I have a question in regards to when a name enters "pending delete" status.

If it is my domain which is about to be released, can I renew the domain before it drops? I realize this can be done during the redemption period but what about during the pending delete phase?

You have a preemptive right to renew during the redemption period. When the domain is in pending delete it's too late...
Note that for some TLDs like .us or .info redemption translates to 'pending delete restorable' and pending-delete = 'pending delete scheduled for release'
