Expiring domains - Save expiration date?

Would I use a service like Namejet if I want to save the expiration date on a domain ? One time I saved an expiration date of 1999 on a 5 character domain name by using Namejet, but the domain that was to expire was on Network Solutions (affiliate partner of Namejet). So I am just wondering the best way to keep your decade old expiring .COM - a decade old, when it expires and you want to grab it.

1) What is the expiration date roughly? Early December, late January etc.
2) What is the registrar?

Enom and namejet belong to the same company. All enom domains go to auction at namejet only after they expire. This happens between day 22 and 42 after expiry.

Have you checked the domain at namejet recently? If you did it should show a date next to it and according my calculation that date would have been 17 December 2010 which was the last day for you to backorder the domain at namejet. The namejet auction is now closed. You are 7 days late.

You can now try to catch the domain on pending delete at the end of january 2011 but the creation date will be reset.

If you had backordered it at namejet before the 17th, the domain would maintain its creation date.

If you want the domain when it drops start checking it on snapnames or namejet on the 19th. january which is when the domain should enter pending delete. When it enters pending delete, if you make a search on either of these sites you should see the date 24 jan 2011. The domain will drop on that day.

It' only been in redemption for FIVE days. The day of importance, according to Network Solutions (when I talked to them on the phone) is the 19th of Dec, that's when the update of status changed.

So you have to catch it just between the exact date of expiration, and the time it's RRP status changes?

Last time network solutions may hve bent the rules for me, apparently they snatched my domain right out of Redemption and sold it to me, keeping the date.. it was NetSol -> Namejet instant account transfer. Maybe with the right connections I can get that to happen again? LOL

So you are saying I would know upon adding it to my Namejet Backorder list - I would see a date?

There is no record for this domain anywhere on Namejet. It's dying silently behind the scenes :) Should be a nice easy grab.

Only 1 person knows about it but he's a close friend and I know he doesn't go buying domains so if I get competition I know who leaked :)

I had the same issue and I thought I could save the date of expiration on the domain if I use some service such as the Namejet. However, I did so and I have not found any saving in the expiration matter. I then tried to resort to Enom but just before I went for it, I came to know that Enom was actually the sister company of Namejet. So I had to look for other solutions and apparently all the dates for such a saving are closed. I will update you as soon as I find one!
