The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Maybe you can have a script that checks for expiration and rank.

Am I right in saying that if you buy a domain with Pagerank already, that your listings in Google comes with heavier weight right off the get-go... does that apply to the front page, or to all pages on that domain?

Thanks!

My guess not all pages , every page has its own rate of index/rank...
but you may check archive
and see if there is any sub pages indexed/ranked

corporateforum.biz - Deleting 31.03.2008
izonemedia.biz - Deleting 29.03.2008
multiflex.biz - Deleting 29.03.2008

lol...you don't have to pay a fortune for domains with page rank. It's a myth. They can be had quite cheaply if you know where to look.

At the end of the day...the page rank dosen't count for that much anyway, because it is usually six months or so behind.

My advice...get a good tool to check for page rank and back links, there are a lot of free ones out there, and go hunting in the bargain bins. You might be surprised what you find.

I bought 4 domains with valid PR's 3 8 months ago for no more than $8 a pop.

You can find them if you are willing to look hard and put in some time. It also makes it cheaper to get started.

I tried domainbroadcasting.com subscription once, and I did found some great PR/Alexa/DMOZ domains, but it was really hard to spot them because most listings were domains with fake/forged pageranks.

ok...I'll give you a head start.

go here http://www.5dollar-domains.com/

You can find these sort of pages all over the place. These ones link straight to godaddy. $5 ends up being about $15 with extra charges, but hey, it's still cheap by half. Hit the page rank on the left of the page. this will put domains in rank from highest to lowest. You will see PR 6,5,4,3...and so on.

Now to check that these PRs a correct use a tool like this.
http://www.checkpagerank.net/

It will check if page rank is valid. It will also check for back links, directory listings and domain history.

Now, if you find one with page rank that is valid, has lots of back links, you'll want to check out the quality of these back links because that is just as important, if not more so than page rank.

Use this tool
http://smartpagerank.com/

Look for good back links with good page rank. Use the back links analyzer to check this.

Do your homework. Buy Smart. Make some money.

Good luck.

BTW.... not telling you where I get my $8 domains....I've already saved you some money :imho:

Check the backlinks..

firefly has everything pretty much covered.

main issue with PR domains.

Check the backlinks-no backlinks means no REAL PR no matter the PR checker says. The domain must have backlinks.

I used to publish lists of domains with valid PR and backlinks on my site. I no longer have the time to search them out but did write an informative article back in October which reveals the methods I used to check them.

The article is still posted on my site. Please visit:

Good luck in your search.

Matt.

I can echo what has been said here. Look for genunie PR. A lot of domains have PR because they were forwarded to other domains. For example if domain1.com is a PR3 and domain2.com is pointed at domain1.com both domains with have PR3. But only domain1.com is valid.

Also keep in mind that if a domain has dropped and is not indexed in Google anymore the PR will likely go away in the next update regardless of what you do with it.

I would suggest looking for domains with link popularity. Even if they do not have PR you might get a few hits and with some valid links already established building PR will be much easier.

most of the domains listed on http://www.5dollar-domains.com/ are faked PR :(

Not really. For some reason most tools see them as fake when they are with a registra. I bought one from the list about 3 weeks ago (PR3), had enough backlinks to be interesting, and sure enough, it now shows as valid PR3.

Can't explain why this happens, it just does.
