Expired domain grab

Hi all,

I wanted to know if it is possible to make a script that "Hammer" registrars in order to grab expired domains.

Yesterday i found 3 expired domains and tried to refresh browser in order to get it while refreshing WHOIS to see status.

Guess i was damn slow all 3 of them BOOM registered.

So i am a programmer and i could not find any info on how to make this kinda script or software that connects registrars and register a domain.

If anyone got info on this don't hesitate to share,

Maybe a new software project can be done by me i don't have any problem

as long i could get the info how it can be done and what things are needed to be considered.

thanks.

Lol, that's why drop hunters exist. They register it within microseconds and then auction them. It's not easy to bypass them.

Registars are fast at picking up the names.

If it is a valuable name, a script won't help

the unfair politics of domaining.

I hate it when companies or people with highly advanced scripts have such a great advantage over others.

I hope this will become prohibited one day. Everything manual and fair.

If you want to compete the minimum would be having a few registrars (with direct connections to the registry) working for you.
There are scripts available but you have to use registrar APIs which are too slow for serious dropcatching.

Yeah it will be forbidden - the day Verisign starts auctioning / keeping them themselves.

Good luck with your script - bet you can catch some worthwhile names.

I use OpenSRS (Tucows) and they have a decent API - check whether there's a library available in your language of choice, otherwise it's not that difficult to write your own.

The main disadvantage to writing your own drop-catcher though, is that some registrars have deals with the main players and re-register names to auction off before they drop, e.g. Namejet's Pre-Release scheme.

ICANN really ought to put a stop to this practice - it doesn't seem fair for the registrar to renew a domain for their own selfish interests outside those of the actual registered owner. The domain should just drop, at a random point during the day, giving everybody a fair chance of catching it.

I thing that they have created a lobby so no script will help you. Probably consider to sue them ( you have more chances) because as said this practice in my opinion is illegal. Registrars should be registrars and not use their privileges to snap names and send them in auctions... Probably icann and Verisign should fight this non ethic practice. But i dont know how much they care about that. Money leads... their motivation i think.

Thanks for your comments guys,

But as i see i must try run a script and i don't have anything to loose yet.

So if you have more sources of regitrars API or even more ideas please write them down even tough you think there is no chance of catching but ya know some can be catched for sure.

thanks.
