Dynadot expired auctions are a joke... in my experience 30-50% of them are cancelled after you pay (and then your funds are stuck there as credits). At GoDaddy maybe 1-2% of expired auctions get cancelled after I pay, which is far more reasonable. I’m convinced people let their 4L .com and 3L .net .org .co .io expire to see what they’re worth, then they renew shortly after the auction LOL. I’ve basically stopped bidding there as a result, Dynadot must not have adequate fees for late renewals / recovery to discourage such behavior.

Today at GoDaddy Taaz.com auctioned for $18,250 and Zyla.com auctioned for $7,670, so it seems auction prices for pronounceable LLLL.com are WAY up everywhere.

Every asset class is spiking, stocks, crypto, real estate, art, watches etc. Inflation is rising fast, people not pricing their assets accordingly will regret it.

Enormous wealth is being created in other areas of the economy, and that money makes it's way to all types of assets.

Domain investing is also growing based on the number of bidders i'm seeing show up to these auctions. Every newcomer adds to price and when you have two newcomers with very deep pockets you will see many domains ending at prices that seem almost fake.

You will also see domain sales that seem fake, just like you see stock prices and art selling for numbers that do not make sense.

If you have really good names, make sure you price them correctly.

You would think she could afford to renew...

I would say they could afford to bring a lawsuit against the new owner if they suddenly want it back. :xf.rolleyes:
I am not sure how many people are well prepare for such a potential lawsuit.

Yes, nice name. It seems Carlos Ghosn's daugther was among the previous owners. You would think she could afford to renew...

affording something is one thing.......knowing the value of it is completely different.....

Maybe they are billionaires and $28k nothing to them
you don't get to be a millionaire/billionaire by flushing 28k + down the toilet at every opportunity you get.....

It's expired on 2020-12-25 while domain assign to winner on Day 40. So, the original owner still has a few more days to pay the late fee of $10 to renew it. I think the original owners may received tons of email in this case.:xf.laugh:

I was so close to contribute in this auction, I was watching it for days since the beginning, but I know I wouldn't be able to sell it for more than 30k, so I backed up.

Sometimes it's good to know your powers & limits, even when you can afford something. Before I go to the 'end' of any auction I ask myself, can I sell it for more? If the answer is no I leave.

i’m curious if it exchanges hands and fully paid for.

@Dynadot what is your policy for auction non-payers?

Assuming have zero-tolerance, #2 highest, option buy?
Go with the Snapnames way of handling non-payers.
I’m assuming OP is #2 lol.

According to wikipedia, It seems that the domain really belong to Carlos Ghosn's daugther,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caroline_Ghosn

=============
Ghosn currently serves as the CEO and Chairman of Levo's Board of Directors. Levo has an audience of over 9 million members globally, and 30 local Levo chapters around the world.[9] The company has raised more than $9 million in angel investment with prominent investors including Gina Bianchini, Fran Hauser, Susan Lyne, and Lubna Olayan.[10] Facebook COO, Sheryl Sandberg, is also an investor in Levo and a personal mentor to Ghosn.[11]
=============

I think she may receive warm reminds and ton of domain buying requests from different people.:xf.rolleyes: Many people will take the chance to build a relationship / buy the domain from her.

2nd highest bidder wins, and unfortunately, I am not that guy.

Lawsuit in this place won't do anything, it was their misake which only they can correct by making an offer to the next owner. Although, next owner should be cautious on how to market it, or develop iz.

You can request a refund when the domain gets renewed. Has never been an issue for me, especially when you're talking bigger numbers.

I usually wait untill there are 5 minutes left to pay to make the payment to avoid sending money in case there's a renewal.

It's part of the game. There are worse venues though. Since this is an enduser dropping, chances it'll get renewed in time are smaller as they're probably not watching the auction, like I mentioned in the other thread.

We'll see in a couple of days.

watching that auction for a while...nice name, so what is the latest updates? does it renewed or changed the hands ?

btw...TaaZ.com recently in the Auction house as well....anymore know the progress? I thought it is quite brandable..

It seems like it hasn't been renewed yet, so the winning bidder will probably get it (if they pay...).

Will most likely cancel. I have had so many names cancelled on me, it is not even funny and to think that I stay up till 1:30-2 AM fighting with last minute snipers.

I think many investors simply test to see how much their name is worth.

I even emailed an investor if he was willing to sell a name for a little more than what I actually won it for, and he won't budge,.

Another name was renewed by a NP member lol

A little bit of a high valuation for the name at current market values IMO ... they must have good plans for it .
