Experience with Google Manual Action - Domain - Google Index

I was just curious if anyone here has had any experience with having a domain with a Google Manual Action (Penalty) for spam lifted?

I bought a domain that had a Google manual penalty (I didn't know at the time of purchase) that I recently got lifted/reconsidered and I was curious what others have had as far as any experiences getting penalties reconsidered/lifted.

I had one with said penalty until I totally re-created the site from scratch, removed all backlinks, fixed sitemap and contact us page, created unique content and called google to check

...in just a few days they lifted the ban

Great, Thanks for sharing your experience. I was just curious what some others here had experienced to see if it really is as hard as I read it was.

I read everywhere that it was hard to get a penalty lifted but I thought (other than the stress of waiting) it wasn't too hard to get it lifted.

I think that maybe others that were having a hard time getting it lifted were trying to do a cheap job of showing Google that the site wasn't going to be a spam site.
