Cheers :)

Lowball is an understatemtn in my case :)

offering close to reg fee for names i could sell for $2k a piece easily.(to a fellow domainer)

But they do what most buyers do, try and buy low then sell high.

some people do get good deals.

definetly worth a try.

i dont believe this (lowballing) is the case all the time.

But i would never try and sell my names to them again.

Thanks DotUS, good to know.

I've submitted some domains to them and I will wait and see what they come back to me with.

I will report here with my findings ;)

Being from NameMedia (parent company of BuyDomains), I thought I'd chime in here.

We have two different ways that you can sell your names and you can chose the best fit for you depending on your domain investment strategy.

1. Selling Names to BuyDomains. In this scenario, if you are looking to sell quickly or sell in bulk, we can work with you. We are going to buy on the wholesale side, but again, if you are looking for expediency and bulk - this may work within your domain strategy. Additionally, I began working within acquisition only a few months ago - but I can tell you this - we have spent significantly more than $25 LLL.com's since I've been in this role.

Sell Names to NameMedia: http://www.buydomains.com/sell-domains/sell-form.jsp

2. Sell Names through the World's Largest Domain Marketplace - AfternicDLS: One of NameMedia's properties is Afternic.com whereas we sell thousands of premium names on a monthly basis. Through selling on AfternicDLS, you will be able to get greater price points (retail) for your names.

List Names at Afternic: http://www.afternic.com/sell.php

If you are looking for cash in your pocket today or selling in bulk - would recommend you submit your names to us by clicking the link below. In my humble opinion, if you don't submit, you'll never know what the offer will be. Or if you are looking to sell at greater price points - I'd suggest you sign-up today at AfternicDLS.

Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions.

Good luck!

David

With the greatest of respect David (you seem like a decent guy), I consider the offer I received in my inbox this morning to be nothing short of insulting.

I wasn't overly sure what to expect, some of the guys in this thread seem to have a good deal of experience with buydomains and as such, I took their opinions on board. Nonetheless, I wanted to try it out for myself. Seems they were right (as usual).

Again, no disrespect intended, David (shame the same can't be said for your company when they are negotiating with potential partners). Mind you, with an inventory the size of that found at buydomains, I guess you can afford to lowball.

Ditto David's comments - each deal is unique and the market is constantly changing. What's clear is that we buy names - a lot of them. Feel free to contact me directly to discuss any deal that didn't work out...

I would list the offers received from BuyDomains.com if it weren't for the fact that

1. I appear to have entered into a confidentiality agreement with them that forbids me from disclosing any offers received to any third party.

2. It doesn't sit right with me.

What I will tell you is that the offer received falls *cough* some way short *cough* of the value they have placed on a similar domain listed on their website. This is not to say I expected a high-end price, of course I didn't, but I did expect a starting offer substantially higher than that which I received.

Mind you, can you blame them? I have done the same myself on a few occassions. You start low and then negotiate until you get to a price that is suitable for both parties. The difference being, however, that I have never DARED start THAT low, I doubt the seller would dignify my offer with a response

I will get back to them and negotiate for a substantially higher price. Should I succeed I will put it down to exeperience. I will then make my way back to this thread and declare with the utmost sincerity that I was wrong. I will even start a new topic on the subject. Should I fail then my domains will be re-homed in the hands of an end-user who appreciates their true value.

n.b. I don't want this to appear like a public vendetta against BuyDomains.com, its not. It's just my honest appraisal on the matter and my way of going about trying to contribute to the vast pool of information available on Namepros.com.

edit: Best of luck, Spade :)

:bingo:

In my experience in selling to them, NameMedia's initial offers are at liquidation tier, don't expect anything greater. They may come up, but not much. The transactions where I have sold to them have been super smooth & professional and payment quickly issued via Mass Pay.

Buying can be a headache, I've made numerous offers at fair investor tier (where minimum offer was some ridiculously low amount like $250) only to get a response, "negotiations for this domain start at $<end user tier>"

I agree with most everyone above. I have sold numerous names to them and all for a very, very low price. But the transaction went without a hitch and I was paid right when they said I would be. I would recommend them for sure, but don't expect anything more than bottom dollar pricing.
