Ever tried dot5hosting?

My current webhost is dot5hosting and before I selected it I read a whole bunch of reviews. Many of the reviews states that it's not worth it, but many popular webhosting review sites actually recommends it esp. if you're looking for budget hosting.

I decided to try it out, mainly because everytime I'd ask them questions concerning my interest in being a customer, they were very alert.

It's been a little over 6 months now and all of a sudden, it's like they've changed their attitude towards me! :tri: I'm always being put on hold - when I attempt contacting them via their live chat support!

I also twice filled out an on-site contact form and received an e-mail response asking me for my account information or credit card details!!! :o

Now I simply want them to host some subdomains (they will host 5) and they're like "please wait for about 24-48hrs for the subdomains to be processed" - I've been patient enough to wait for a week already and now they're saying there's some kind of problem and they need their engineers to locate the problem...I can't believe all this. I want to just transfer altogether but they've got an excellent 99.9% uptime and 3000GB bandwidth - I'm happy with the hosting bit but not with the support.

Unfortunately I paid them 2 yrs in advance (over $100). Can't really blame myself 'coz I'm really very new to all this...

Sorry but this is the problem in this kind of situation right there. This is the Walmart effect of being the biggest versus the best. Many people are happy with this scheme, but expect to get what you pay for. When paying $100 for two years, you're going to get support that costs $100 for two years.

$100 for two years come to less than $5 per month. You cannot expect more for such a budget.
As CrazyTech told, you will get for what you have payed. I would always suggest you to keep away from the cheapest and overselling hosts.

Thanks for the advise...if you guys feel I'm getting as much as I paid for then that actually makes me feel a little better. How much would I have to pay for an excellent host?

That will depends upon your need. How much space/BW would you need? And do you have any other requirements? Also, what is teh nature of your site?
