Event.com fetches $165,000--Shanghai IDC Network Information Technology Co., Ltd
Domain name news brought to you by Shanghai IDC Network Information Technology Co., Ltd
After a brief slowdown following US labour day, domain name sales are back up and running, with a flurry of big money purchases making waves in the web world.
Chief among them have been sales of generic domain names – with Event.com taking its place on the roster of highly valued product-specific monikers after a $165,000 sale.
Promising countless web hits through the immense web search frequency of its keyword –event - the site name commanded major interest and eventually tabled one of aggregator Domain Roundtable's top live auction sales.
Web searchers seeking local events, be they musical, sporting or otherwise, are likely to come upon the site – especially if they navigate straight through the address bar – making it inherently attractive to web operators.
The sale launched the site onto the Domain Name Journal's top 100 sales for the year, with the generic domain name entering the running in an impressive 43rd place.
Another top pair of generic domain names, Rebate.com and Rebates.com, sold at the same auction in a combined $1 million package, making product-specific monikers hotter than ever.
