Transferring a name from one licensee to another: step by step
1. Agreement
Before taking steps with DNS or your agent, it is important that there should be an agreement between the recipient and transferor. Therefore, it is not the intention to initiate the procedure in a haphazard way, because we always need the agreement of both parties.
2. Choose an agent
If, as the recipient (the person acquiring the domain name) you do not have an agent yet, you should contact an agent from our list of registered agents, unless you want the transfer to be carried out by the current agent.
3. Read the conditions!
The registration of a .be domain name (and therefore name transfer) implies that you expressly accept the general terms and conditions for end-users.
The agent that you have chosen must submit these conditions to you on registration of your domain. If your agent did not submit the conditions to you, then you can consult them here.
4. File the "
TRADE-DOMAIN" application
The agent of the recipient must make an electronic TRADE-DOMAIN application to DNS. This can also be the same agent as for the present domain name holder. You will need to provide the following information to the agent: your company name if appropriate + name of contact: name + tel. + address + valid e-mail address !!! A valid e-mail address is extremely important, since it is our direct means of communication with you. It is also important that these are your details, and not those of the agent or another intermediary.
5. Sending out e-mails
When DNS receives the application, if this is correct, 3 e-mails are sent out automatically:
* one to the agent of the recipient to confirm receipt of his application;
* one to the transferor, with a link to a secured web page of confirmation;
* one to the recipient, with a link to a secured web page of confirmation.
The recipient and transferor are both asked to confirm whether they agree to the transfer or not.
6. React to the e-mail
The aim is that both the transferor and the recipient (not the agent, of course)should go the mentioned web page to confirm or reject the trade.
Check again whether the details specified in the application are correct. Notify clearly on the web page whether you agree by clicking YES or NO, and by sending your answer back by clicking on "send".
Various outcomes:
A. We receive a reaction
Only after receiving the response from both parties is the TRADE-DOMAIN processed.
Answer is NO : one of the two parties does not agree to the transfer.
โ TRADE-DOMAIN is cancelled.
Answer is YES : both parties agree.
โ TRADE-DOMAIN is run, on the date mentioned in the transaction or on the day when DNS performs the transaction, if that is a later date.
As soon as the transfer has actually been carried out, the agent of the transferor and the agent of the recipient are informed.
B. No reaction
If no reaction is given by the recipient and/or transferor (e.g. because the e-mail address is incorrect), a week later we send an e-mail to the agent of the recipient to inform him about this. The recipient and transferor are given another week to confirm the transfer by sending a signed fax. Via this fax, DNS must be able to establish/check the identity of the sender. If the fax is OK, the transfer is processed as with an answer from the secured web page of confirmation.
C. Still no answer after a fortnight
If we have still not received an answer after that extra week, the transfer is irrevocably cancelled.
7. Update WHOIS
Each hour, trades will be processed. The WHOIS information is then updated and the change of ownership will be effective.
8. Update nameserver
The technical changes will become effective when the DNS name server is updated (5 times a day, at 6h00, 10h00, 13h30, 17h00 and 23h00).
9. Deletion of old data
The agent of the transferor deletes the old data from his nameserver
Cost
The licensee transfer is charged by DNS to the new agent.
A licensee transfer is seen as a new registration: the cost is therefore the same and the renewal date changes to the date of the transfer.
