I downloaded the whois.exe mentioned in another thread here to check the status of some of the worst quality LLL.eu's a few moments ago...

After doing a check of around 20 names, it seems most were registered from www.800name.com and www.sitename.com... both registrars have the exact same phone number which appears to be in Germany.

I went to BOTH of these registrars, and can't find a trace of anywhere that they register EU names.

How is this possible? It appears that they've made applications completely for themselves... Does this look funny to anyone else?

.US domains.US domains
No way ! A domain I checked using that was regged, and it was a good one ...
That annoys me.

Have a good look at ANY of the links on www.800name.com ...

They all go nowhere or are broken...

Examples of names "obtained" by them:

vzq.eu
xqk.eu
qzg.eu
qzo.eu

That's the results out of 9 names I checked - almost half.

I don't see how ANY potential registrant could've pre-registered a .EU domain name from their site. :td:

Yes, I also checked lots of variations and nearly all what I checked points to 800name.com - something isn't right is it?

I hope they get reported, this really isn't fair.

I was worried about this... cuz I couldn't believe that most of the crap LLL.eu's were gone so early in the afternoon. Really looks like they started from the bottom of the pile and regged them all for themselves...

There's a couple other registrars I've noticed as well... .info registrars that look like they've been up to not good as well.

I'm starting to realize there are quite a few of them. Anyone else think this is something worth reporting to EurID? I sure do.

Sadly, it wouldn't surprise me if alot of registrars have checked what their customers were applying for and gave themselves priority if they liked the domain(s).

Anybody who had 10k could do this.

LINK

..and after that just register for themselves the best domains.

Sell one good domain and the 10 grands look like peanuts...

How much would each .eu domain cost someone who'd signed up to that?
