.eu domains

Hi,

Are going to go with .eu domain when they are out on the market? It is going to be a whole new community. Which domain extension is actually you favorite one. Besides .com I like most co.uk's and .us

They are restricted now but will they be when aviable to the public?

.eu will probabally become one of the most popular extensions, unless there is something, like restrictions in they way or registration.

Anyway, any clue on what the price for these may be? Hopefully cheeper then other ccTLDs as this one is going to be very popular.

I think they will require a presence within the .eu domain or countries. I suspect they will run about the same as the .tv or .cc.. I may be wrong tho.

I don't think they would require you to live in EU, their goal is to sell as many as possible right? But then again they might want to reduce spam an hacking and stuff and they can manage it better if they keep it within their owh countries....

they (.eu) will require european presence for about 3-6 months but after that, it would be opened to the whole world... they're avoiding such sunrise issues like that of what happened to .info

Its European Union and yes, UK is in EU.

To register a .eu domain names you must be one of the following:

1. undertakings having their registered office, central administration or principal place of business within the European Community;
2. organisations established within the European Community without prejudice to the application of national law;
3. natural persons resident within the European Community.

At the launch of .eu, there will be a sunrise period of 4 months during which only public bodies and those with recognised rights to a name (such as trademark holders) may register. You can read more about who may register during the sunrise period and the procedures to do so here.

Immediately after the sunrise period registration will open on a first come first served basis. Anyone who satisfies the geographical criteria set out above and is in compliance with the terms and conditions of registration may register a .eu name that is still available.

Ya, I agree with you. I think it might even take over the .us extension. But I think the .com and .net will still stay the 2 main domains.
