I was searching for a few .com names but they were taken, however the .tv and .mobi names are available and the xtensions seem to be a good fit with the name. What's the general perception of reg the other extensions? cybersquatting?

My advice is to go with .coms, or else go for .nets.
Unless you are really really really sure and have a good knowledge about .tvs and .mobis, then go ahead and play with those extensions.

If the .com is taken and you feel like you need .tv, it's perfectly ethical to take it... Their own damn fault for not getting it

it depends, how generic term is that? how are you going to use it? are you going to sell same product as others, or going to do something completely different?

It depends. I personally would only reg the other extensions if the .com or the .net were regged but parked. It is a touchy topic.

Just beware of possible trademark issues. Apart from that, if you feel they're great names that go well with .mobi and .tv, just take it.
