NOTE: Estibot have replied that there will be 5 free per day so this has been posted.

Estibot have now only the new version, which has some new features and a significantly refreshed interface. Apparently there are 5 free per day. If it takes you to a login page, even though you have not done as many as 5, or anyone else from your IP address, try using a different browser, or totally removing all cookies from your existing one and clear cache. By going to Firefox I was able to get it to work, although Chrome with my saved data will not. Previously Estibot allowed one free evaluation a day, or 5 free on the beta of the new recently.

For small domain name investors the pricing of the plans seem expensive to me. The lowest cost one is the so-called Novice plan that allows you to do up to 150 evaluations per day, and costs $29.95 USD per month. The Advanced plan, that allows up to 5000 per day, is $99.95 per month. There are a couple of other plans as well. including the Expert plan at $149.95 per month that allows you to directly email 1000 leads per day from within Estibot using their lead generator tool (surely that is contrary to some national and international anti-spam legislation, it seems to me?).

You only get API access with the two most expensive plans. The Novice plan does not get you the appraised or premium drop list, a useful feature in my opinion.

I think, in an environment where GoDaddy are offering GoValue free, and that other features of Estibot (e.g. advertiser info, search info. whois, drop lists, word parsing and suggestions, etc. ) are either free or at low cost elsewhere, Estibot will find it difficult to get subscribers at these rates.

It will be interesting to see how Estibot makes out, but I find the pricing too high for what is uniquely offered. I hope that GoValue will stay free, and that it will continue to improve in quality. I also hope that at some point a genuinely sophisticated AI based tool that uses deep learning to get better and better will emerge.

You can see about the Estibot features and plan options at this link:

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Must be said tho, the new one is nicely done. Way more attractive & user friendly than the older version.

Bob,

Can you give it another shot. I force cleared all session cookies for all guests. It's possible that your Chrome is doing some type of optimization or caching. Let me know if it works.

Luc

It now (correctly) gives me a message that I have used up the 5 free appraisals (which is true, in the interim I tried 5 on Firefox). Before it did not give me that message that I had used up the free ones, but rather immediately took me to the Register/Login page.

I will try tomorrow, and see if it will let me on Chrome, and let you know either way. Thank you for all of your attention to this, Luc, and best wishes for a happy day (a busy one I am sure!)

My apologies for the misinformation, but I simply assumed from how it worked for me that they were no longer free at all.

Bob

Estibot has been brought into the 21st century. Much cleaner interface now. Still offering one free appraisal each day

Right. It was 5 free appraisals few days ago.

Subscription is still expensive.

It could still be, I have a membership and noticed the free appraisal option before I logged on. To be honest I thought it was just one free appraisal, perhaps it is still five? Has anyone tried? Let us know.

It is 5 free appraisal, even today I tried it successfully. Thank you Estibot.

Hi Luc,

Today everything is working absolutely fine for me with my Chrome browser and Mac OS interface. I just successfully used it for 5 free appraisals.

So for others, it should allow you to do 5 free appraisals each day. Of course some of the features re reserved for the various plans, as outlined in my OP.

Thanks so much for all the help in posts, and best of luck for the new Estibot.

sincerely,

Bob

Unfortunately now, I see they have added that horrendous Recapcha security select all the (cars, storefronts, streetsigns, horsesasses, etc) to get your 5 free appraisals. Before each one! So now what used to take 10 seconds now takes about 3 minutes! Ugh! I guess Estibot doesn't really want to give away those 5 FREE appraisals?

The problem is that some parties are trying to take advantage of the free appraisal feature to scrape our data. We encountered a very serious attempt to do so this morning. At some point, we had to switch from 5 to 1 free appraisals and add Re-capcha on the old EstiBot because someone (or multiple parties) kept trying, and it became impossible to ban all of the IPs used without affecting our customers.

We are all for providing what we promise, but we can't allow unscrupulous parties to take advantage of that.

I will just put a few of the more obvious here, but will work on a longer post (but not today).

For automated domain name appraisal, I think GoValue is the overwhelming free choice:
https://www.godaddy.com/domain-value-appraisal
I have tried both it and Estibot side by side for now about a thousand domain names, in various extensions, and overall feel it is similar in quality. GoValue also includes some of the other features, including comparable domain sales.

I am not at all impressed with FreeValuator but you can get two free per day:
https://www.freevaluator.com/

Of course the big source for previous domain name sales is
https://namebio.com/
It does not cover less than $100 sales, so complementing with
http://dnpric.es/
http://sold.domains/
(the latter just for ngTLDs and only in bets)

There are many excellent sites for drop (and I am sure that NPs members more expert than I can add their favourites). One option is
http://www.freshdrop.com/

A source with a wealth of information other than just the domain name is:
https://www.expireddomains.net

Also, some country codes periodically distribute links to the about to drop domain names. In Canada CIRA do that for .ca for example. If you follow them on Twitter they even remind you when a new list is up.
http://tbr.cira.ca/

Also, some people blog, or comment on here, with their choices for drops. e.g. one of many
http://www.expiredpicks.com/

The best source for information on Google analytics is to go to Google itself. You may need to pretend you are going to advertise, but they have a wealth of information - some of the process described here:
https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/2470105?co=ADWORDS.IsAWNCustomer=false&hl=en

There are dozens of sites for suggesting domain name alternatives, in addition to those in the registrars themselves. I personally like (although its intended more for business name genertaion)
https://www.shopify.ca/tools/domain-name-generator

I hope that even though most of these are obvious to NPs members, most people found something new in this.

Have a good day!

Bob

I still prefer to be my own "estibot".

It seems the last few days that the number of free Estibot valuations per day has been now reduced to 2 (from 5). Are others seeing the same thing? It is still more than the 1 allowed by the old Estibot. Is this information, correct, @Luc ?

Yes, I noticed that two days ago as well. Only two free appraisals per day now. I mean really what's the point? They're basically saying pay $30 a month or don't use us? It's still mind boggling to me that they don't offer a "Lite" version for $9 or $10 a month for 25-50 searches a month. It's really disappointing!
