Most of us buy and sell low priced domains on a handshake and paypal...at what amount do you decide to use an escrow service?

My personal amount is about $300 and above.

Escrow.. at least through Escrow.com, isnt really any more secure than Paypal. Theres ways to cheat it.. Personally I'd prefer to use Moniker Escrow every time, since they offer a true escrow service (they take physical possession of both money and domain), but they are rather expensive. I guess it just comes down to comfort level. If it's a reputable member from a forum, I'll pretty much trust them upto $500.. Maybe more, just depends. Generally speaking though, anything in the in $400-500+ range, I'd prefer to use an escrow service for. That would just be too big of a hit for me to take.

I wasn't singling out any specific escrow service...but it brings a good point on what peeps favorite escrow service is.

I agree. It varies depending on who you are dealing with.

Escrow.com is pretty simple and straightforward. I used it for sales as low as $500.

escrow.com is for 2 persons agreement before they proceed their business. Paypal more risky...

Honestly, it has a lot to do with trust. Many domainers who do constant business online, I will trust with a verified paypal account - others, I would accept escrow at 400+

I wont risk most of my transactions over $500, even with a trusted party, I will typically require escrow. Just not worth the risk in my opinion.
