I know a lot of you just use PayPal for most low price sales but for those who use escrow services when selling domains which do you use?

I haven't used Escrow.com in years, I like the process of Sedo's escrow better then Escrow.com but Sedo does cost more with a $50 min where Escrow is $25 min.

Which do you prefer and why?

I always use Escrow.com for sales that dont involve a third party. Sedo only when its an all sedo sale(buyer finds the name and buys thru sedo)

I have used both services, but there is one major difference.

In my Sedo transactions, domains were pushed/transferred into an intermediary Sedo-owned account, and it is they that end up delivering the domain to the buyer. I think this provides an added level of security and is actually the very definition of "escrow".

Sedo-Escrow is more 'escrow'.
(Remember escrow.com can only check whois, which not mean domain-owner)

and escrow.com have additional fee for payout. Which for me, as international seller makes them not that cheap (40$)

Check ? ;) ... don't remember last time i seen that piece of paper

from escrow.com:
Disbursement Method Fee
Check via regular mail No charge
Check via overnight courier, U.S. only $30.00
Check via overnight courier, International $60.00
Domestic wire transfer $20.00
International wire transfer $40.00
Electronic Check (ACH), U.S. only $10.00

That is what I like best about Sedo's escrow, they hold the domain and the money and then disburse both when its all ok.

Funny, you would think with a name like Escrow.com they would be more "Escrow" then they are.

agree, I've used Sedo several times and never had any problems.

I agree. Escrow.com is not a real escrow service because they don't take hold of the item and money before dispensing both. But. I always use Escrow.com rather than Sedo Escrow because they pay almost immediately, so time from agreeing a price to receiving the payment is generally less than one week. Like Dotmainer, I always have to pay the $40 international wire transfer fee, so I make the buyer pay the escrow fees. I think Escrow.com generally have a good reputation with the general public, even if it might not always well deserved. So, to date, I've haven't had any buyer say they don't want to use Escrow.com but want to use another escrow service.

Moniker also has an escrow service. If I remember well you can also set up payment in installments. They take possession of the name, so it's a true escrow.
I think it's a question of convenience, if the domain is already at Moniker it could be an valid option. Also look at disbursement options, fees etc vs the amount of the transaction.
