I used to LOVE escrow.com for the transaction speed and customer support.

However, my last two transactions were not so good.

First one, everything was find except I have been waiting for more than 2 weeks to get my money.

Second one, buyer sent the payment 7 days ago and we did selected 1 day verification... However, nothing as been done yet.

I asked to cancel the last transaction asap as we will use a more serious service.

What I have learned from this...

I am so vexxed by the new escrow that I am about to vomit or have a stroke.
Escrow, com was great until freelancer.com bought it.
All the great customer service is gone.
Twitter account is silent for months, Jackson doesn't reply to emails, the phone and chat

support just repeated their scripts like robots.
And the website is never updated with all the new policies.
It's one shock after another dealing with escrow.com
I can't abide a company that springs new policies on customers but refuses to publish

    them on the website.
Mark my words, when a couple draconian new policies are made public, buyers and

sellers will not be interested in using escrow.com
hanks for starting the exact thread I was about to start. Escrow.com has managed to ruin my upcoming thanksgiving. i won;t go into great detail as I;m sure others will be sharing the same frustrations in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, with my Thanksgiving/black friday ruined, I am feverishly looking for other stories about how badly escrow.com has changed for the worse.

    GRRR
    Everyone share your [horror] stories.
And name ANY other escrows to use ....

*Side note - freelancer is a joke. 99% of the freelancers are from India and they are the same one who are sending me 1,000 spams a week. They never will read your needs and will reply with the use of bots all saying the same thing. SEO It company ecomerce expert wordpress joomla etc...

I will never use freelancer .com as it is packed with incompetent people and spammers

Freelancer is well known for bad service all around. I hired a nice single Mom in oregon years ago and she did a great job. I released every milestone to her. But Freelancer never ended up paying her. I felt so bad for her.
So I was very leery when I heard they bought Escrow.com
They slowly let go of all the good old staff (The PRESIDENT of escrow.com would even respond to every little customer !) and now you can only reach a bunch of script readers. But again, what makes me furious and see red is introducing policies without telling customers beforehand.
I can just imagine the reaction if I sold a website and then changed around all the terms in the middle of the transaction.
    Insane.

Yes Freelancer is garbage and Escrow has slowly delved into that status. There are many other services that do the same thing but better. You're right about Freelancer, post a job and wait for the bot responses to roll in with no thoughts about your actual requirements.

I like to receive quick easy convenient paypal payout so escrow.com is nto for me anyway
but I called them recently to ask soem things, and it was awful support, some rude girl who didn't wanna be there. bad. unpleasant

    will never deal again.

recently had my first very good experience with epik escrow
they are registrar too so they guarantee payment, deal with buyer and can get the locked domain out in case of payment issues etc.
no need for stupid concierge fees when you have registrar+escrow all in one

they deposit escrow funds into epik own curncy accoutn called masterbucks, u can leave there and pay 0% escrow fee and use it to renew transfer stuff etc on epik.. or cashout to paypal 5% total fee. so no paypal fee either.

I will continue to use epik escrow personally.

personalyl I love the registrar+escrow all in one combo.

Sedo suspended my account. Why? They want me to pay $200 for a transaction that was completed with DomainAgents. The buyer was confused and email me to my Whois email, made an offer on sedo and finally hired a domainagents broker to conplete the transaction.

    Sedo is BS

Wow, then you guys will be really excited to hear Escrow will soon be implementing a new policy to get photo ID, and proof of address from every registered buyer/seller for all transactions. If all systems are not a go, this will really bottleneck all transactions, as it is hard enough to get buyers to accept to start the inspection period after they get the name.

That'll be their downfall. One of my transactions earlier this year took WEEKS. By the time I got my money it was about 2 months later.

Thank you for letting us know. Sounds like a good idea. Unfortunately, I don't like the fact that my sensitive information will be kept by a company I can't trust. Also, as you said, it will make things much complicated.

Would you give such information to an escrow? lol

    seriously, try epik.com
I joined them a week ago.
put my whole portofolio there from other registrars (as outside domains, didn't tansfer there yet) into their nice manager.. with nice expiery dates for all etc.. so nice manager to see your whole portoflio in one place. what expires when etc..
it even shows you free of charge those stupid estibot values for each domain lol. or alexa rank.. or PR.. cute.

then sale came up for 4l.com .. just filled out their escrow form,
transfered domain to them, expediated transfer, 2 days later I'm paid into masterbucks at 0% fee. the domain is sitting in buyers epik account.. locked for 60 days..
    no problem

    here is their escrow form:

    http://www.epik.com/services/escrow/

seriosuly, don't even waste your time looking elsewhere. wish i knew abotu this before.

Oh wow ? Really ? That's a bridge too far. The old escrow.com did mighty fine without any of that.
My goodness is hard enough to get buyers to send a wire when selling a website. I am trying to find this info on Escrow.com ....Is this yet ANOTHER policy escrow is creating but isn't warning anyone ahead of time ? Madness. Plus, I live in a state that warns consumers against sharing ANY ID online. I wonder how this will impact existing transactions. Do you think they will spring this on people mid transaction?

I had to do that with DN.com. This was after the transaction was completed and they had my money. They wouldn't release the money until I sent them a copy of my passport. Wasn't happy about it.

Escrow.com transaction went through without any problems last week. But there were no issues, so it was probably all automated.

And get this, I just checked the last emails Escrow.com support sent me, they're not even encrypted.
In this day and age one shouldn't hand out ids online to randos. This will be their downfall for intangibles like domains.

Photo ID and proof of address? This would be end of escrow.com. I remember how the buyers refused to fax their credit cards to (old) escrow.com when it was a routine requirement some years ago. No big difference here.

This. I sell to a lot of international buyers and adding these extra steps is untenable. I was furious before replying to this thread and now I am in shock. It just gets worse and worse. Plus they don't seem to have published this absurd new policy anywhere.

I think it has moreso to do with banking laws in regards to escrow accounts, something you will see probably start of next year.

I agree we give these companies all our data, then they get hacked, and it's like we are sorry, you might wsnt to change your passwords.

It's going to kill a lot of deals for sure, no doubt.

Which new banking laws are you referring to ? Thnaks.
I do not see anything pertaining to new pertaining to California.
California has a couple consumer protection groups that advise consumers against sharing any information unless required by law.

    From Escrow's FAQ:
Transactions performed by a Buyer, Seller and Broker on the Escrow.com site, shall be governed by the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (Cal. Civil Code Section 1633.1 et. seq.) and the California Financial Code governing Escrow Regulations.

If you want more information, you are best to call them, there website probably won't update, until the changes are implemented.

This is something coming down the pipeline, just a friendly heads up.

I don't think anyone will be happy about it, will hurt everyone, as a % buyers will be skeptical about sending in that sort of documentation.

I was happy to hear that Payoneer has introduced an escrow service.

I have not tried it just yet but would be keen to give it a shot.

Has anyone tried them yet? Any feedback?
