Escrow.com accepting Paypal. Chargeback concerns?

Spaceship Spaceship

Escrow.com is now accepting Paypal and I was curious how I am protected as the seller. Can the buyer still do a chargeback on his Paypal using Escrow.com? Do I have to wait longer to receive the payment if Paypal is used? If the transaction closes and I am paid by Escrow can the buyer still do a chargeback and then am I liable to pay back Escrow?

The Paypal payment option is something I have never seen before with Escrow and was curious how it all works.

@Jackson Elsegood can you take the time to answer some of these questions.

Thanks for your time

I will venture a guess that Escrow takes the loss in the event of an issue.

Yes, Escrow.com will cover if any loss but 95% it will not happen because escrow.com release the funds after buyer acceptance or after inspection days...

There is no return / refund poicy is clearly mentioned, so Escrow.com will win paypal dispute case.

Plus companies can make their own agreements with Paypal that individuals cant

Jackson has answered this in the past. The seller is 100% covered from any chargebacks from the seller.

Everyone beat me to this one. Thank you!

Escrow.com protects transactions completely. In the event of a buyer charge back the original transaction is not reversed and Escrow.com will fight the charge back on your behalf.

Merry Christmas!

No, once we've performed account verification procedures on the buyer and funds are secured they are treated exactly the same as Wire Transfer funds.

I've had major problems with PayPal in the past, and I regard them as a less than honest company, and they seem to be associated with most of the frauds on Ebay. As I understand it, a PayPal payment takes 6 months to confirm, and payments can be cancelled for other reasons than chargebacks.

In view of the association that PayPal has with misleading or fraudulent sellers, isn't it going to tarnish the reputation of Escrow if they promote PayPal. There are so many payment options these days, that PP doen't seem to be the best addition. My personal preference would be Bitcoin, or the ability to receive transfers in a UK bank. I had to accept a dollar cheque for my last sale through Escrow.

It would kind of defeat the purpose of escrow if the buyer could do a chargeback.

I don't see how they can stop it, especially if it is a porn name, or the buyer says it doesn't have as much traffic as he expected.

is there some particular reason why you do not make sellers lives easier and payout via paypal like many other escrow companies do?

it makes you look a bit.. behind the times.

The interesting one would be setting up a multi-sig transaction in Bitcoin, with Escrow being the trusted third party. Fees would be much lower, and it's international. I believe this is the future for escrow, not last century fiat payment services. :)

no thanks. I don't want to wake up to my bitcoin going from $800 today to $10 tomorrow.
but I guess they could make both available. oldfashioned paypal fans from last century like me, and futuristic gambler types like you :)
