In case you are not aware, Epik has entered the field.

In our opinion, Times of Dan and Efty are now gone.

We think Epik is better.

Quick thoughts here:

- Dan and Efty both have some great features and capable management. We know Dan particularly well, but also have some familiarity with Efty management. These are both capable innovators with capable entrepreneurs leading them.

- We would be delighted to provide escrow services for Efty and I did pitch that idea to Doron recently at the suggestion of some management.

- We routinely work with Dan to process transactions. I trust their fraud assessments and have never had a domain transaction go wrong with them as far as I can recall.

- Neither Dan or Efty are registrars. As such, it would make sense for them to hook into our APIs as this could make transactions more efficient for everyone.

- As for crypto, I think Dan does have this capability. We did go one step further and integrate natively in the checkout. We also run our own BTC servers which keeps costs down, transactions fast and also very private.

For escrow, Epik is a one stop shop and therefore a single counter-party. That reduces risk and means things get done quickly. We can often close transaction in less than 1 hour if needed.

Also, if customers already have domains at Epik, we can typically skip fraud checks because we already have a relationship with the seller.

However, again, all these guys are awesome and we like them just fine.

Epik marketplace is only for domains registered at Epik.

No, not correct. We can approve anyone to list domains from other registrars at Epik. We don't do this by default because it is a way to prevent fraud from domains being listed in the marketplace by people who don't actually have control over those domains. Most NamePros members are approved within minutes. This also allows folks to park domains at Epik as well as use the SSL domain landers for free.

We can be confident with Epik, but are buyers also confident.. This is the whole point. same question can be asked about other marketplaces as well. Where do buyers hangout,..at landing pages or some specific sites like Godaddy. We need some stats. For example where would a Chinese company go to buy a domain. Where would an European go (Sedo?). I see very high percent of Chinese visits at Sedo, but I know they are mostly bots, because I didn't sell a domain to a Chinese at Sedo.
Epik's new default landing page is great. If it also tracks visits, it would be even better.
Sedo and Afternic have partners, this is their strong side. It is difficult for newcomers to expand in that direction. We see Sedo sales on dnjournal every week, which is free advertisement. If Epik does the same, it can compete with the big two in time.

Actually, we don't post sales. There is a reason for that. We don't believe it helps our core customer base. We can verify a transaction upon request but have chosen as a matter of policy to not announce them. We sacrifice a bit of marketing visibility for that but we think that for many clients, the benefit of privacy is more important.

As for tracking visits, we do actually do that. In fact, we did something quite clever there. So, we use our own global Content Delivery Network. That is why the parking landers load very quickly. However, we also integrated visit counting at the network edge so that visits are counted but without having it slow down page loading. FYI.

As for the Chinese buyers, I believe we recently secured the single largest .COM buyer of China. He is a happy client buying thousands of domains per week and telling his Chinese friends to check us out. We also just integrated UnionPay, the leading credit card of China as a solution for allowing Chinese to fund their purchases easily. It works.

We are certainly listening to the feedback and adapting quickly in response both through organic development and acquisition. We did 2 very timely acquisitions earlier this year which have been successfully integrated. Our European team is about to get a lot bigger and we are adding direct accreditations for ccTLD around the world, especially Europe.

As much as I love Epik, it's ALWAYS good to have other options out there.

I have been requesting that from both Efty and Epik repeatedly for months now. I hate having my whole portfolio listed at Efty with only escrow.com or Paypal as the only payment options!

Anybody used Epik Site Builder?

How does it stand vs Word Press, Squarespace, Wix or Sitebuilder?

We aren't saying that Efty or Dan are not good. They are good companies, but in our opinion Epik outcompeted them both.

We also think the times of Sedo are gone unless they lower their commission significantly.

The industry is changing.

Dan is extremely easy to use and user-friendly with an excellent dashboard and nice looking landing pages...

Epik is easier to use. You send one email to Jessica, and she does everything on your behalf.

Has this kind of thing been answered on another thread? I'm looking to build some websites.

The SiteBuilder we use is pretty good. You can try it risk-free for 30 days. We did a major upgrade about 4 months ago, and now offer a complete package of SiteBuilder, Hosting, Email address and SSL for one low price. We can easily add CDN and DDoS mitigation if folks needed it. More here:

You cannot compare Dan, Efty and Epik

They are each unique....

Dan - is the best marketplace but it will cost you an arm and a leg.

Efty - is the best self hosted marketplace (well as close to self hosted as you can get for a small fee)

Epik - is a registrar and for security and escrow (escrowish) service they cannot be beat. I guess they have a marketplace but it has a long way to go before it catches up to Dan or Efty, but it's free so you have to decide.

So you see.... each is kind of unique and if I were a betting man I would say that Epik will eventually knock it out of the park. When all the different services Epik has get streamlined into one dashboard, or the marketplace gets a shiny facelift they will be the clear winner.

You are missing the point. Look at what is being offered, for how much money and for what amount of effort. We are not posting out of the blue.

Sedo has 10 time more shots to engage CEOs? We kindly disagree.

Why didn't they pitch Cooking.com to CEOs? Industry defining domain went for what?

Nice try :) Do you know anything about the competition law? btw. Have you ever ordered anything from Cooking?

The competition law is whoever offers an equivalent product for less, conquers the market. We see Sedo either adopting or falling. They are no longer the only marketplace, yet they still charge like they are.

Thank you for your answers!
