I don't undertstand why should gold related domains sell more
when the gold price is a little up?

https://goldprice.org/gold-price-chart.html

if you are right then in 2012 there must have been more gold-related domain sales
I can't verify that

but for now
https://namebio.com/?s==kTO4EzN3IjM

gold related domains are selling xxx USD range
all higher sales are not gold-related like asphaltgold/.///com

Frank,

When the price of BTC went past $10,000 the first time, what happened to crypto domains?

When the price of Gold goes past $2500 what do you think happens to precious metal domains?

See here:

https://www.macrotrends.net/2485/gold-to-monetary-base-ratio

upload_2019-8-14_22-37-56.png

The money-printing is about to REALLY get going. However, based only on the current monetary base, the price of gold would have to go up 10X to match the last peak.

In case you are not aware, the price of precious metals has been artificially suppressed for decades. They have been terrible investments because the prices were artificially depressed, thereby preventing price discovery.

The conventional investment play is to either own the metal or to own shares in mining companies. However, since we're domainers, we can think about the domain supply before the domain demand shows up.

As a low risk strategy, a domain speculator could buy some underpriced domains in this category and put Epik's SEO-friendly SSL landers up on those pages, and wait for the retail buyers to show up.

You don't have to be an economist to see what is happening.

I've been telling friends of mine with financial holdings to prepare (I don't have too many holdings to worry about :xf.smile:),

We are in the beginning 'inversion' and as far as can find, every time that has happened before, a recession follows in roughly a year or so. The severity/degree is unknown at this point and it could be minimal, but indicators will show themselves over the upcoming months.

Some folks here liked the economic post earlier. You might also take note of this other HISTORIC development:

The 30 Year US Treasury Bond now yields less than 2% for the first time EVER. The entire US Yield curve is now under 2%.

I have a tip for you guys. Buy a lot of domains related to gold, silver and precious metals. I think that market is about to bust loose.

Re Coca-Cola: Perhaps it is not beverage companies but companies that have a hyphen in their domain name consistently do well financially. Others will see that, and we should all stock up in hyphen domain names? :xf.grin:

Seriously though, there is no doubt that we are in troubling economic times. Stocks have had great run, but lots of troubling signs including the yield inversion, little room for central bank measures, trade wars and more. The yield inversion and very low interest rates mean that it is tough to earn much in guaranteed instruments or bond based index funds, particularly worrying for retirees who depend on investment income in retirement as these have traditionally played a big role. It seems amazing that 13 trillion dollars are already invested globally at zero or negative interest rates.

Im thinking that wghen the economy crashes, gold & crypto will have a large surge. IMO, of course. Gold prices always go up... the newer place top invest is crypto and I think more people will invest compared to the last crash. It's much easier to invest in crypto now compared to several years ago.

Im meeting with my financial advisor next week... should be interesting to see what he says.

We helped someone buy this domain recently:

https://www.goldcoin.org/

He is a smart fellow doing something novel in the crypto space. He might introduce himself as he has become an active domain investor.

Check out Daily Diamonds today:

https://marketplace.epik.com/daily-diamonds

Many aged domains are dropping today. -This is because a long time domainer ran out of money. He did not ask for help to save the domains that he is dropping. I think his wife gave him an ultimatum.

Full disclosure: I actually just kept one for our O&O portfolio: Lekhi.com, a common name in India. If someone wants to sell that domain for 50/50 rev-share just PM me.

With reference to the great deal offered on .ph this week, I was pleased to see a number of significant domain sales in the most recent DNJournal report.
  • Dito (.ph) $5000
  • GoPro (.ph) $2000
  • Raket (.ph) $1500
  • Rudol (.ph) $1500
  • condominiums (.ph) $1000
  • shopee (com.ph) $1000
I have not looked into it but understand the .ph registry has started reporting sales (or some sales?) from a marketplace they run. In any case, always good to have sales in the extension to point to when trying to sell domains.

Hey everyone ... as much as it's cool to see what everyone has registered and thoughts on other issues .. it would be best to have those discussions in the proper venues to not take this thread too off topic from actual deals and promotions at Epik.

(Does it show I missed the $7 .com promotion the other day because I didn't see the message on time .. lol)

It is true -- you got a stack of 3 and 4 letter .PH domains for $5.99 each. That's crazy.

Reminder all that the promo covers all of the .PH extensions:

dynadot $6.99 USD
No thanks .. for portfolio management purposes I'm trying to limit myself to GoDaddy (no choice if you use their auction platform) plus one other registrar at a time. My alternate used to be Name.com .. but last year when Epik ran their $6.49 promo I started shifting over.

I also like the fact that their CEO (and now more and more staff) participates here and is available when there are issues. I recently had a PayPal issue, as I didn't know that as a Canadian I couldn't use a USD account with PayPal .. so a wave of my payments didn't go through. And because I've interacted (and even debated) with @Rob Monster in the past, instead of automatically cancelling everything like most registrars would have done, he reached out to me, and with the help of one of his staff (@Jess Robison) tried to solve the issue, and when I realised my mistake of using a USD account via Canadian PayPal, they simply invited me to pay them directly. It seems like the logical and obvious course of action .. but with all the automation in the domain business I seriously doubt there would have been a happy outcome at most other registrars!

Anyhow .. I don't want to take the thread off-topic myself .. and while I have nothing against Dynadot (to be fair, I've never actually used them), at the moment a $6.99 promo at Epik is worth more to me than a $6.99 promo anywhere else. ;)
