I saw the "english is a funny language" thread...
...so I thought I would start this thread.
We say things and most of the time do not even realize what we say-
some examples...
"I'm running late" - Ha, if you were RUNNING then why are you late?
"I'm running behind"
"Act natural" - haha, think about it.
"Found missing" - lol! they say it on the news all the time...
"Pretty ugly" - I have heard this quite a bit lol
How about this...
people who say "that rocks!" or "that rocked!"
you can go to a Jazz concert and afterward say "that rocked"
but notice you can not go to a rock concert and afterward say "that jazzed"
lol... tons of these things...
Words...
House is one house, two are HOUSES.
Mouse is one mouse, two are MICE.
Moose is one moose, two is still MOOSE. lol
Goose is one goose, two is GEESE.
Foot is one foot, two are feet.
Boot is one boot, two are boots.
LOL I could go on forever...
it is so funny to me how blimished the language is... and how hard it must be to learn for people who did not speak it as a first language.
not to mention the way we SAY things lol... for example: foot and boot lol, here are TONS of these as well.
I speak Italian, and sure italian has its few things...
but it as well as most other languages (french, spanish etc) are so much more proper and not near as hard as english to learn.
So if you have any, share them with us...
