End User says no to $20!!! for .com and stays with .net

This guy is not a smart man! most of the traffic is coming my way!

How greedy can you be! .com will protect him and his company...

sucks for him. Just hold onto it..Eventually if they come to you wanting the domain tell them that $20 offer is looooooong gone.

Personally I think $20 would have sounded a little desperate. You should have just told him it was for sale and then see what he has to say in response to that..If he isn't even interested in it being for sale then no need to give him a price

My thoughts are perhaps he thought you were a scammer, either that or he is one of those people that think ALL domainers are parasites and cybersquatters.

I did try to get an offer from him a year ago and he said no thanks. Then I tried being nice and give it up to him for $20 and still no thanks!!!!! D-: D-:

Wow lol. That just shows you how uninformed some people are out there about how much traffic bleeds to the .com.

His loss. Should his site ever get super popular, make sure you slap a few zeros onto that price when he wakes up and starts begging you to sell

What an idiot - I wouldnt sell him it in the future for less than $2,000 or even $20,000 unless you really need the money!

Believe me I have offered many domains that I owned longer to other extension holders and have been called a cybersquatter! Ignorance I tell you. :)

What would really grab his/her attention would have been to send the email and sign it from [email protected] or [email protected] That might do it. Or you could ask what they would like you to do with all the emails you get intended for them because of the .com.

Ignorance is bliss people, Even tho you were trying to be polite you really shouldn't fault the guy for not being interested. It's your gain and his loss but by no means should any name calling be brought into it. He may have been curt to you but his response was still polite by the look of your post. Some people are happy with what they have and that's enough for them.

Well .com is KING!!!! :)

Plenty of people make a living using other extensions, if you dont have the .com version it definetly a loss but not the end of the world.

Whose the smarter of the two: The one getting the traffic and wanting to sell the domain for $20 or the one with a developed site who is willing to stick to what he originally bought?

I really don't see anything with the person not buying the .com... even at $20. In some places, .net is actually favored. We're just brainwashed in the West. IF it were me, however, I would've definitely snatched it up just to protect brand image, but like mentioned, it's really not the end of the world for most.

Does'nt surprise me, some people just see d o m a i n e r s as squatters and choose not to support them in any way..regardless of the cost.

...their loss, numpties :p

Nice! :tu:

"Excuse me, sir - but most people come to MY domain thinking that it's your company since reputable and established companies use .com..."

Tempting but that'll probably get you in troubler if you are the one who contacted them to sell it in the first place...even if you owned it before them.

Oh, I like this. What a great line you cast out with that particular bait on the hook. You can almost see him thinking to himself. "E-mails? Traffic? Hey! That's mine, you give me my traffic right now!!!"

Yeah, but brainwashing or no, the .com will always see traffic increase when the .net is developed. I've got the .net of a few domains I wish people would offer me the .com to for twenty bucks, sheesh.
