Having contacted a few end users by using google i have received fair bit of intrest in a name i caught (shocked by the amount of replys as most replys are by big companys) however a couple of replys have asked for traffic details which im unable to supply due to the fact of only owning the name for a few days so my question is what is the best way to reply with out having any traffic details.

Traffic is a different product. You are selling the name on its own merits. If it is a good name then it should fetch a good price. If it was a good name with good traffic then it would fetch a great price.

Did you make the claim that the name had inherent traffic? One way to prove this is to set up a page with a hit counter on it and have the potential buyers watch it over a period of time.

Again, stress to the potential buyer/s that the value of the name is based on its own merits -number of letters, common search terms, industry that it serves, etc . . .

I'd love to see a copy of the letter you sent out for future reference.

How did you know who to contact?

rb when you do a search of google put your domain name minus the ext.

Say you own buybooks.com

you would put "buy books" into the search field, then the listings that come up try emailing the top few.

I understand the "who" as in "which website" :)

The "who" I was talking about was more specific. Like which website contact. Did you use the whois contact or a webmaster contact on the site.

Also, the wording in the letter is important so it doesn't look like spam, so that would be interesting to see what type of letter got a good response.
