Seems Ebay are going into communications now aswell what with the battle with MSN, AOL and now Google with this seems Ebay feel left out and want to jump into the fray too.

Good read that, i wonder if they will give you an option in the future to add your ebay talk link on your listings so you can discuss your product in a live auction type style.

they cant jump in like that, they will be an isp before you know it, they are a good auction company, they should stay like that.

I don't think the intention here is competition with telcoms.
Skype (The company ebay is buying) offers PC to PC voice communication ("calls") for free. Plus they offer very cheap PC to phone service, worldwide. It would make more sense for ebay to integrate these features into their auction system. Possibly providing communication between buyers and sellers, live conference call type auctions, etc. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Skype services being integrated into ebay in the near future.

yeah, But why do they have to copy, They are an auction site, they will lose customers if they go through with this

I do not think Ebay will loose customers personally. Look at QXL.com they used to be one of the biggest auction sites around.. Ebay has eaten there client base and left that site a shell.
