So... yeah. I admit it. I've been looking through some of the better patterns from 7N thru 9N. Yes, I have a problem. I know it and I've accepted it.

But I did want to point out that pretty much all of the "great stuff" is gone from 7N and 8N category already -- the early bird special is over. And now, the "early bird" for good 9N's is starting to show signs of closing... There's still some good 888nnn888.com's ... Which are gone from 7N and 8N.

Just sayin'. ;)

And for the love of domaining remember:
Patterns are good. No 4's and no 0's (unless the 0 is at the end).

... All the 888xxx888 palindromes without 0, 4 and 5 are gone.

How about early bird on 10N or 11N? :xf.grin:

Is there any N888888888 or 888888888N (10N), and N8888888888 or 8888888888N (11N) availabe? :P

Registrars love you guys :)

I saw 3888888.com sold for $2,620.

Maybe we can do some research on the potential of longer numeric names with more "8" for chinese market :xf.grin:

that's still far from 9N.

"In Chinese numerology, 888 has a different meaning, triple fortune, a strengthening of the meaning of the digit 8.[13] For this reason, addresses and phone numbers containing the digit sequence 888 are considered particularly lucky, and may command a premium because of it."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/888_(number)

9N has only 10,000 double 888's... really only 6,000 because 4k are 6 8's.

888xxx888
888xx888x
888x888xx
x888xx888
xx888x888
x888x888x

xxx888888
xx888888x
x888888xx
888888xxx

Weeding out where "x" = 4 or 0 and the pool shrinks even more. Narrowing even more to where the values make palindromes or other meaningful combinations, the pool of the best shrinks even more.

The double triple 8's in the 8N category are 1,000 and 7N's 100.
So 9N is the first "commercial market" providing an important supply of double 888.

(Most all of the palindromes are gone... all of the 6 8's are gone. Many of the others are gone, but there's still inventory left out there!)

Who's going to buy all those 8N+ domain names? I'm telling you, the business of buying domain domains with no real-world value (in hopes of a change in the world, making them valuable) is a pyramid scheme that's going to collapse someday.

No one is going to buy all of them, we are still speculating, however the best patterns will retain a certain value, worth noting it is pretty easy to remember some of them, recently 66669999 went for a good sum. Others like 55667788 would also be desirable, even 12381238 would be considered a decent score. The trick is to find the wheat from the chaff. The world of numerics has changed forever I suggest

I don't think anyone is going to buy "all" of them. I've said a whole bunch of times in many, many threads that people should be very selective in 6N+. But that doesn't mean there's no value in a name because it's longer.

In the US, we've done 10 digit phone numbers for a long, long time. Having a cool number is sorta cool here... but it's cooler in other places, including those getting more and more hip to the net. It's been stated many times in these threads that the Chinese are very interested in using and owning numbers and (yes) investors are interested in holding/trading names of interest. I don't expect that 060103429.com should ever be registered. But that's far different from 888282888.com.

Imagine typing in your friends phonenumber as web address and the url re-directs to their facebook page etc, get the idea folks ........status and investment all in one neat little package

that's exactly why many chineses reg these 8-9N domains.. check out their Whois and you will be surprised to see that quite some purchase their own phone number as a .com

Hey gang, here is the bulk of the last of the "True Triples" 3 repeating numbers X 3 lots of three numbers, there will only ever be a total of 1000 of these style names, 000 000 000 -999 999 999
~
So if you want to make your claim and aren't scared of the big bad 444 monster you can still get a few that actually also have a 888 ...... still cool (yesterday's list)

For those who were/are able to get the great 9N combinations I think there will be good sales.

I am just throwing something out here ok?

ALL C88888888 and 88888888C are taken ( and there seems to be some battle to catch them if they drop or if put up for sale )
So I thought....hhmmmmm....how about 8888C8888s? I mean, if you were Chinese wouldn't you want your initial to be surrounded by extreme luck??????

I wanted to take the risk and got something today. Worst case scenario I lose reg fee.

Interesting, I do have 888c888 and a few others, some are even developed, 888a888.com is one example (not mine)

The longer the harder the sale, but there can be no doubt that patterns help a longer domain, good luck

Don't quote me, and I have a few with 4 8's myself... But I think there's something not great about 8888 because it's 4 of them... and ya know, 4 tends to be bad.

I could be wrong. Thought I saw it in a thread somewhere. (So it must be true. LOL ;) :) )

"Apples, meet the Oranges, they're your new neighbors." ;)

You're talking about an invented category of 8888C8888.com vs 8888.com.
You're talking about creating a subset out of 1 billion names because it's convenient vs a 4N.

I have 888c888 not 8888c8888 ...... so I'm the 888 gang, got a couple of names with more than 3 consecutive 8's but not something I chase much. I like domains with shorter patterns, 3 is generally long enough for me
