Hello,

When I signed up for Dynadot, many years ago, I typed in a nickname, not my real name, like most of us do, but I didn't think that would cause problems updating account information.

I have registered many domains, even today I wanted to register another domain, but I will probably switch to another domain registrar.

as Yesterday I asked to update details, I was asked for a Pin number, which i foegot, then if you want to reset you need to answer security question, who remembers the answer?? That was ages ago, ok, so I emailed support, and they asked for ID or a car license.

Okay, I sent them a car license, but I received a response that the details on the account (adress was change, phone number) do not match what is written on the driver's license, I explained to them that in the credit card details (with which I purchase domains on your website) write all the details, it did not help...

they said that i would try to find the answer For the security question... So I didn't understand...all the purchased domains were lost?? Where can I submit an appeal to the global domain registrar?

Tbh, DynaDot is my go to registrar. Also like namecheap and porkbun.

Most would handle your situation the same though.

It really depends. There's too little info provided to make sure.

If you're the legitimate owner of a domain, you'll be able to regain ownership.

However, there are some red flags which would trigger any registrar/ICANN

I don't see how this wouldn't be an issue at any registrar...

You can't remember your pin, or your security questions. You can't provide matching IDs..

You should at least be able to prove ownership through your whois email contacts I would think.

we all know various registrar have different levels or emphasis on security ... for better or worse.. balance is hard to find for many of them... which can cause issues either way. imo dyna is on the stricter side... cheerio

You FORGOT:
1) Your pin; so therefore they ask for questions;
but you also forgot
2) Your security questions.

Iโ€™m surprised Dynadot accepted anything off you.

Isn't it that they should email to the WHOIS email and ask new ID card and other communication for verification?

OP.
This is the second Dynadot Thread from a New Member, I don't want to judge you.
But first things first:

You have a Thread opened (your first) selling a Dynadot-registered Domain.
I think if you don't have access to Dynadot, you should better close this thread (my advice)

I can recommend you one thing, because you wrote:

The answer: A Password Manager!
I use SecureSafe.
Based in Switzerland, 50 Password is free, and you don't have any issues.
Its not advertising, but they only provide a Username + Password, they dont ask you for an Email or something + you have a 36 letter/figure Rescue Code. That is one of the safest managers I know.

However, every other Password Manager allows you to create a strong password, save it, and add your Account details, the Name of the Provider, the Website, and Notices.
And the magic is: You write things like -> Security PIN, Security Questions, and answers in the Notice box.

I do it with EVERY (!) single registration on a Website. In times of digitalization, you have so many accounts that you can not always rely on the same password or anything.
Why am I mentioning a password? I guess you are using your password everywhereโ€”or probably two or three different ones.
A password manager lets you have separate passwords for each page and store other information.

If you can't remember the PIN (part of the Authentication) + not your Security Question / Answer.
How should they legitimate you?

I had the same case. I provided them with all my Data and ID Card, and within 1-2 hours, I had access again.
The same thing happened to me recently when I changed my phone, and I can't access my Authenticator App.

Such things are essential - not only for Dynadot or any other Company - but primarily to protect your Account and Assets.

Figure it out with Dynadot; I dont see any reason to go to ICANN.
