Hi,

I've noticed on expireddomains dot net that a lot of domains that are deleted (or dropped if you will) that have higher PR (4-5+), but no backlinks are instantly bought.

Is there any reason to buy a dropped domain without any BLs?

Is there a chance that the PR will somehow revive after a time?

Thanks

Sounds like it would be a big juicy red flag for fake PR...
Most likely the reason why a person would let a supposedly PR 4+ domain drop to begin with...

Most of these pr are due to 301 redirect. They don't have any pr to begin with and just reflects the pr of the site they are refering to. Try "info:domain name" in google to see the site refering to by the domain.

That was my first guess, but the thing is when I open expireddomains dot net and list only GD closeouts/auctions (expired domains that haven't yet dropped), filter out only those with "real" PR and check them with some other Fake/Real-PR checking tools they all seem to have real PR although none (or abysmal)BLs.

Although I cannot check dropped domains with those external checking tools (since they are dropped...), I would believe that expireddomains dot net shows the believable fake/real PR status.

Backlinks are only part of the page rank logo used by google.

Put up a site with good content, and get page rank with no backlinks.

Then look at how many sites/blogs that are nothing but amazon affiliate sites.
Page rank can get very high for these, yet few to no backlinks.

So check the history of the domain.
What was it before being dropped?

I know that backlinks aren't the only factor determining your PR and domain age, visits, relevancy of your content , etc. also chip in.

This is why I ask - if it's possible for a dropped domain, that previously had a real PR due to it's nature and/or backlinks, to regain it's PR.

Well, I think I will do some tests with dropped/expiring domains from GoDaddy, revitalize them, resurrect or redirect any existing links and will see if the PR will bump up again.

Will keep you posted...

OK, so there's this one .com domain I've bought as dropped circa two weeks ago. I didn't have any plans for it, just liked the name and thought I can have some fun with it later. So I've "put it in park" and didn't care no more.

At first it had PR0 and now it shows it has PR5. I've done a little BL research and it has some good links from PR6-7 forums and whatnot, but a fake/real PR checker still shows it is fake. (the google info:domain doesn't show anything)

So what do you make of this?
