Dropped domains question

Hi,

Does the registration date reflect a change for all dropped domains?

or the registration date(first reg date) can be unchanged for dropped and catched names?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
An actual dropped domain should show the new registration date as the date it was caught.

Domains that expire and are purchased through pre-drop in-house auctions retain their original registration dates.

RazorNF is correct. If you go to namejet and look for pre-release domains, they will keep their creation date. Snapnames calls them "expiring" but it is the same.

1) pre-release = pre-drop = expiring = partner registrar > keep reg date
2) deleting = dropping = pending delete > will have new date

A domain that has expired will first go through a pre-release auction. If it is not sold, the same domain will reach pending delete a month later and it will drop. Then it will be caught by a dropcatcher and will go through a second auction.
