Excuse me if this has been posted about elsewhere, I could not find any threads about it:

Lately Dropcatch keeps skipping days on their deleted domain auctions; I'll see a bunch of auctions that are ending the next day... and then the next day, there will be ZERO auctions that day, and all the ones I saw previously will be moved to the next day. Even two-day skips. That's been happening a lot.

I have not received any email from Dropcatch explaining this. Has anyone else received emails?

I'm just wondering why such a large happening has not been discussed here yet... so I'm obviously missing something about these 'blank' auction days. Today is another one; zero auctions for deleted/caught domains. All today's domains have been bumped to tomorrow...

If you're in the know, please enlighten me; thanks for any help.

DropCatch announced a couple weeks ago that they won't be running any auctions on the weekend to make it more fair for everyone to have a chance to bid.

Thanks for the update. I didn't receive an announcement or see it anywhere. Looked for alerts inside my account but none there either. Maybe they only posted the announcement on a social site like X or FB?

Yeah, Iโ€™ve noticed it too. Looks like DropCatch has been skipping or moving some auction days. They havenโ€™t said anything official, and I havenโ€™t seen much about it on NamePros. Could be a bug, an update, or maybe theyโ€™re just changing things without saying. Best to contact their support or check their site and socials for any news

Same here, itโ€™s been oddly quiet on some days. Maybe theyโ€™re adjusting backend systems or itโ€™s a registry-side hiccup? Curious if this is temporary or a new pattern.

Not sure what the confusion is - I just posted what's going on a few posts back. Here's a quote from the co-founder of DropCatch:

โ€œWeโ€™ve adjusted our schedule so DropCatch auctions no longer close on weekendsโ€”giving bidders a chance to enjoy their Saturdays and Sundays without the need to hover over a computer.

From now on, each drop auction will run 3 โ€“ 5 days and will finish at 1 p.m. Mountain Time on a weekday.โ€

Just like people, no company is all one thing or the other. I have used DC for many years and really love their service. However, even a good company makes questionable changes:

I've never been a fan of the decision-making part of a company that essentially says, "We'll make a big change to how our company operates, and completely remove auctions for 2 out of the 7 days of the week; but we won't bother to tell any of our customers."

The fact that I had to start this thread, and others chimed in about being confused/unknowing about the same issue, and one member had to post that they saw the answer on someone's domain news site, not even posted by DC - I'd have liked more transparency, or a notice/explanation, from DC themselves. I don't want an email about every little thing from them, but this is more than a 'little thing'. It's two whole days of bidding.

Don't know if I buy their explanation about the reasoning, either. I never heard about them conducting any kind of questionnaire from their customers. I'd have told them that I actually enjoy using their auctions even more on the weekends than I do weekdays. I'm more laid back. I enjoy domaining, it's part of my 'enjoying the weekend'.

And during the weekday, most domainers have school and regular jobs. I would think it is actually easier and more enjoyable for most of them to bid on weekend auctions rather than weekdays, trying to fit the bidding in while they're working or studying.

So my guess would be that DC may be stopping the weekend auctions to save themselves a bit of labor and give their own employees the weekend off. Maybe they didn't like the sound of that explanation to us, so they said that it is being done 'for the customers, so we can enjoy our weekends'?

In any case... it's a small thing. A minor issue. Nothing to get bent out of shape about. I still enjoy DC and like the service they provide and will keep using them. Just disappointed I can no longer use them on the weekends :)
