I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

I think mapledots is the one buying these domains and is just trying change the conversation with news about Justin Bieber. Admit it! lol

In any event, still interesting news. Lyme disease ain’t no joke.

Which .COM rules are you referring to in this instance? Do you mean registering LLL.ca's and expecting they'll sell quick like LLL.com's?

You got it.

Avril Lavigne suffered with debilitating Lyme disease for quite some time. It wasn’t diagnosed early and prolonged the disease as she didn’t get on the right meds soon enough.

I got an email today that Dynadot are doing a .ca matching promotion. If you have a word in some other TLD registered at Dynadot, and the same word is available in .ca just $0.99 USD for one year. Does anyone know if other registrars have a similar promotion? Anyway thought I would share the word in case helpful to anyone. Obviously I have no association (other than as customer) with them and hope that sharing this does not break any posting rules. I am not clear if one could newly register a name and it would qualify.

If you have a domain in your Dynadot account and want to register that same name (if available) on the .CA extension, it's the perfect time to do so for only $0.99. Let fellow Canadians know your blog, business, online shop, etc. resides in Canada! Offer expires 1/31/20 23:59 PST.
Promo Code: CAMATCH99

Does any .ca Dropcatch provider show in auction, what other user id’s you are bidding against, or is this an industry wide thing of cloaking bidder id’s?

A previous .ca heavy hitter was active in trying to raise funds last week, I wonder if it has anything to do with this two letter?

Think this 100K sale might have anything to do with your comment about the .ca heavy hitter trying to raise funds? I am guessing no under the circumstances but it makes me wonder since this is the biggest reported sale in a long time.

I also find it interesting that Peter (from emall) would sell this domain considering he owns several websites that sell tickets, like HockeyTickets.ca, CheapTickets.ca, Billet(s).ca (and maybe more).... so it's a bit surprising that he wouldn't keep that domain for himself. He also sold it to company based in Montreal (where he's from), so essentially a competitor of his.... Maybe it's just a strategy to promote his emall portfolio, where there's a much more complex deal we don't know about? Anyway, thought it was worth pointing out.

It's possible he sold it to a business entity he owns or is affiliated with. It's an easy cash flow solution if the business account can handle it.

It's forwarding to 2Tickets.ca - is that new? It also lists info @ billets.ca as a contact info - did Peter sell that too, or is this the old format?

Or it may simply be the right price. I think even domain names people say are not for sale will be if someone comes along with the right price. Certainly, while the name is superb, this is a very good price considering sales of the last few years, at least those publicly reported (realize that may be less than 10% of the .ca actual sales).

Good eye. I didn't see that. He actually has (or at least had) a joint venture with Billets.ca:

That's from the 2009 article i posted here before: http://www.domainbits.com/peter-maxymych-emall-ca/

So... in short... Peter most likely just sold this domain to himself? That's what it essentially looks like to me.

I’m guessing that it is a legit sale and Peter did sell it but it does seem strange that he wouldn’t just use it himself with his existing ticket names that he owns and put a site on it.

There's nothing illegal or illegitimate about what we're discussing, it's just semantics.

I mean, if you sold your car to a friend or coworker or boss, it's entirely legal and and represents a valid sale & revenue. Even a relative is fine, assuming it at least FMV.

Yes, you’re right. Sorry, I was not insinuating that it was an illegal or illegitimate sale.

Either way, Both Peter and the new buyer knew the value of the name and I believe that both parties should be happy with the outcome.
