Damn, where is all this MONEY coming from? It makes me want to go into cryogenic sleep for a month or so, and pop back on once Daddy Warbucks and the Billionaire Boys Club have to go back to the office.

And the _new_ winners of these domains are:

bk: sibername
ranger: myid
fixit: sibername
jobshop: sibername
anniversary: sibername

Everything went to siber & myid. no underdogs today.

From looking at the results, it would seem that WHC bought Siber some new TBR server links.

P.S. It also looks like I'm in auction for half the TBR list. :xf.frown:

It seems pretty quiet in here for the past day. Maybe if we don't talk about today's TBR auctions, everyone will forget about them....not likely. :xf.smile:

It’s normally quiet here on Thursday’s. Right now @DomainRecap is seeing how many more of his GD dead beats actually pays so he can spend more before the 1:00 and 2:00 auctions. :)

The answer would be NONE and NONE, and the GD Deadbeats be running wild.

GD has been quiet for me the last couple of days. I am starting to miss my $20 offers! Seems to go in spurts for me. Sometimes I will get 3 or 4 in 1 day. Probably the same person browsing through the .ca’s.

GD Auctions are dying right now and whenever I try to search or download data, it crashes with an error. Even the FTP files were not run this morning.

There's a battle going on at myid. A couple of LLL's each just crossed into XXXX range. Maybe a few people know something I don't about these domains. They are way better than the typical letters for LLL's in TBR though.

One is over $1100 now. And that’s the bottom line COS MyId said so...... For the wrestling fans out there. :)

I see "withheld in the interests of free enterprise" dot ca at $1,232. I'm guessing it could be used for cosplay or hoping to sell to the clothing company. Seems high though...

Ah yes, cosplay is a bit foreign to me so I didn't think of that. Both were good LLL's for sure.

In any case, I think it's best for each of us here if we try not to link prices to specific domains sold at wholesale in the forum. That's kinda why I just left it at a couple LLLs. I'd hate to see it come back later when its used as an argument in a future negotiation. I didn't buy either of those, but just for courtesy to whoever did. If anyone wants to know privately what they closed for, feel free to PM me though.

Agreed, good point.

And a certain 2-letter keeps going and going and going...

Hey, it might be over, but I'm not sure as mine has a weird end date due it being resubmitted to the TBR.

And yes, it looks like the fight is over and we now have a new champion in the 2-letter division...

Lots of last second bidding in that one. Someone could be sitting a while on that one.......... Unless someone knocks at the door.

A funny thing happened the other day when I was driving to pick up one of my kids at school. I was listening to the radio when I heard the term "HighBridge", and a closing motto something like "Move up to HighBridge".. and then I realized I'd bought that domain in a recent TBR.

Small world huh?

Yeah, I remember I missed the end of the auction on that one as the wife & I were taking a little road trip for an extended weekend. Got distracted...

And yeah, you've gotta like it when you see/hear free advertising for your domains.
I love it too when a business' domain is so long that they have to wrap it to another line, like:

{word1}{word2}
{word3}.ca

Saw it just like that on the back window of a pickup truck a few weeks back, and of course I owned the word3.ca part.

Sometimes I just have to shake my head and chuckle.

And after GoDaddy Auctions virtually melted down today, it looks like Sedo Parking & Landing Pages are now DOA.

So what did BK sell for?

It was actually a TBR domain back in 2006 also (I was thinking 10 years ago at first, but then searched my emails, and saw it was 2006). And back then, it sold for around *I think* $5k and Sibername caught it that time too. However, that's just a hazy memory and it may have instead been $2k or $10k... those 3 numbers are what come to mind (yes, not quite exact :) ), but I think it was $5k.

But one would have to expect that the previous owner probably already tried offering it to the restaurant chain... and if so, and the restaurant doesn't want it, the new buyer might have to wait a while to sell it for more. Although I'm sure the chain would get a lot of value out of the domain - they use the .com for the global site.

Or it's also possible they didn't try selling it, and somehow simply forgot to renew it.

So what did BK sell for?
I PM'd you

BTW, I was just checking TM's and there are more non-burger related tm's on BK than you'd think, so that just shows there are more potential uses than the one you're thinking of.

And yeah, after not acquiring it in 20-some years of its existence, you have to assume they don't really want it. Even if the asking price was $100K that would be an advertising drop-in-the-bucket for a corporation like that, so clearly they just didn't care about it.

And I doubt the previous owner would have attempted to sell it to them because that would obviously constitute bad faith and they'd already have it for the cost of a slam-dunk CDRP.

I hope the buyer actually has a plan for it.

Not to be morbid, but it's more likely the original owner died or was otherwise incapacitated, as it's not a domain you forget and even wholesale you can get $$$ out of it.

In this case, it's certainly a risk (but no more than registering it, as Burger King has promoted itself in ads and logos as BK for years so you're pretty well DOA from Day 1), but a 2-3 letter acronym is safer than anything else.

I remember a few LLL UDRPs lately, initiated by a broker inquiry, that were shut down because the domain had been in their hands for a few years. That time delay allowed the sales inquiry to be valid for an acronym and it's valid precedent.

But again, if The King wanted BK.ca, then the CDRP is already filed and they'll win because of its recency, the high price paid, and their well-known BK brand in Canada.
